I`ve just seen that on a Vauxhall forum. Apparantly he`s offering C20LET engines for £350 delivered. What I don`t understand is that Paypal are supposed to reimburse for bent purchases I thought and surely it`s easy enough to track his bank account?

theres some similarities, we wont talk about that though. watch out, and yeah i agree with cavmad, should be traceable unless he's using dodgy accouts or summat.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Sounds like the scammer - isn't hard to find a new IP is it? Good advice being dished out though - ask for pics and see if he comes out with the old "oh, my camera is broke innit?"

Slightly OT, but has anyone seen the various classified ads on ebay listing prestige care for stupidly low prices? An RS4 for 8,000 say, that kind of thing. Seems very dodgy to me....

Absolutely - I always bid 100,000 minimum You normally find that someone else has bid exactly what the scammer wants for it...... Easy to spot them

I saw some dodgy ads on ebay the other day, when you clicked the ad title or picture to go to the listing you were redirected to a copy of the ebay login page but as the address bar revealed, it was a fake site ready to capture your details, no doubt to abuse your account.
its a shame that this sort of thing has to happen, i'm always cautious though, it pays to be a little suspicious at times.

The problem there is many people use the same password for their ebay and paypal. Easy money Thanks for posting up this warning. Its good t know that crooks get spotted pretty quickly.

What I don't get is this...
When some French fvcktard got pishy because his amp didn't arrive in 2 days from Notts to Nancy he recalled the money off Paypal and I was left with nothing, no amp as it was on the way and no money!
I managed to get the money back off Paypal in the end but what a pallaver.
I presume this chap is using somone elses Paypal account or something or I don;t see how he can be keeping the cash.
Also the IP thing? Easy... I used to use a webforum which posted your IP address under your name. Because I was playing a silly game winding people up I had several accounts all with different IPs. One post would be from Adam in Cambridge (using my ISP's Cambridge proxy) one would be from Greta in Germany (using an open public proxy I had found there). This was purely for mischief and my own entertainment but peole looked upt he IPs and foud them to be "genuine" so even though some members suspected there was somethign up there was nothign to say it was me ho ho ho.
So a scammer with a webmail address and an ISP who has multiple POPs or can find an open public proxy to use... Well, he can say he's anywhere int he UK. I've done it, piece of pee. If I can do it anyone can do it.

this @rsehole has tried it on the cortina 1-5 club, apparantly
best thing to do is report them to paypal - and threaten to go public if you have lost money
i never buy anything without seeeing a picture, and quizing the seller - if they have a paypal account, they have an ebay account
why not put on ebay? if genuine

Interesting on the VW forum - surely all it needs is for someone to go and check this bloke out? Could be a nasty co-incidence.

Jesus, the Ford boys got royally screwed over didn't they? Over a grand. It's a bit daft to buy something totally blind without any pics or anything. Still sucks tho. Thanks for the heads-up.
