Sorry to join just to flog a car, but I may stick around as I already spend far to much forum time working (or is that the other way around). Won best in class at GTI International this year, uprated engine, suspension, brakes and other less important stuff. Full details at www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/112744.htmSadly, I need something a bit more child friendly. Looking for £2500 ono. Viewings are not a problem, the number is on the ad. Feel free to ask questions here.

Welcome to the board throbbe - hope someone worth buys your Rocco.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

I cant tell if that last post is sarcastic or not?
Personally I wouldnt pay 2k for a Rocco, not when you see how much other good examples can be found for.

Certainly wasn't sarcastic. £1800 quid for a 20 year old coupe in exceptional (ie prize winning) original condition, fitted with a fairly low mileage 170-odd bhp modern engine, Koni suspension, uprated brakes, nice wheels, very good interior etc etc Yeah, what a rip off. Are these others of which you speak of a similar spec? Obviously he got what the market would stand - My 'scene tax' comment was comparing to what people would pay for a pretty ordinary condition Mk1 Golf GTI...

I agree that 1800 is a much more reasonable price than the 2500 first indicated. ;D

Meh! You're right to an extent though. Very good injected Sciroccos don't go much over £1k, and if you're patient you can easily better that. Same with Jettas Look at what Bill Brockbanks went for recently. The money's in the modifications, and you'll only get some of that back if the buyer wants the same things and is happy that it's been done to his (or her) standards. As it happens, the eventual buyer has known the car for several years. Modified cars are a mugs game financially. If I built another to the same spec, incorporating all the lessons learned it would cost well over that sale price. Price differential with Golfs is closing IMO. You can pick up nice 2.0 16v Mk2's for around that money. I'm a bit disgruntled at the price, but doubling the value of the car with 4-5 years of enjoyment thrown in can't be too bad really.
