Love 'em, hate 'em, sometimes they pay off! These were listed as "U S 17 inch alloys off El Camino" no mention of wheels or anything in the title. And when you open the auction they are obviously not 17s or alloys and they are obviously aftermarket.... And bless him he photos the ugliest of the 4 wheels and says he has no idea about fitment but they are 8" x 17" So spotting a nice set of USW s/s clones I popped a bid in and bagged them for £26 thinking that the one in the pic looked like it might just be a unilug. anyway, when I go pick up the wheels they are marked up as one pair 6x14 one pair 7x15 & PCD 4." - 4.75" on the wheels... Total result. They will actually fit one of my cars at least! A better photo and actually listing the info off the wheels and these would have gone for much more. So me happy. not tried cleaning them yet but they look like its just light surface faffing not actual pitting of the chrome ;D

Question - if they're so bad - how do you find 'em? You trawl through all the listings posted or what? As the descriptions or titles are at the whims of the posters - it could be anything!

Nice work Akku. Except they're not slots. You feeling OK?! My wire basket haul at the weekend where also badly advertised though not quite as cheap a bargain. Wheels for the Minx were quite cheap though

tigran: Seth - I have a thing for Cragaresque 5 spokes. I also want a set of Appliance Wiremags and a set of Keystone Kustomags. I'd diggedy diggedy digg a set of proper Tru-Spokes as well, the sort with the little hubcap bit in the middle that are trying to look like Kelsey-Hayes wires but fail. Adam - my thoughts exactly. I'm into the the "also ran" wheel school if you know what I mean.

Alistair, These are Keystone wheels if the hex type centre caps are original to them. Are they the Kustomags you refer to? I'm not up on whether those you refer to are "fake" wires. If not do you know what they are called?

Thems is Basket wires, were once regarded as cheapo and naff. And now get much love, from me at least. Kustomags are like the old Keystone Klassics but all in alloy not composite, slightly different spoke profile as well. Rare now.

I know mine are referred to as basket wires but I was wondering if they were originally known as something else.
