Didn't think Audi did a version of the Jetta. You're probably thinking about the Fox which became the Mk1 Polo

I think they're shockingly similar to the Mk2 Escort.

MK1 Polo - was born from the Wolfsburg built Audi 50, I don't think theres ever been an Audi that had an actual name? Yep the above lovely machines are Audi 80s - which were FWD with longtidudinal engines, and available in the early-mid 70s, they have more in common with the Mk1 Passat... the Jetta was a late 70s early eighties idea of building a saloon out of the smaller hatchback. MK1 Passat Audi 60 Love

Was the Audi Fox not the US Audi version of our mk1 Passat, which was actually called a Dasher over there? *Edit* No.

Had one of these: in a lovely golden brown effect. 5cylinder GT sounded bloody lovely. Still miss it after a mate wrapped it around one of Watford rings lampposts Those older coupes are extremely tidy........

you thought wrong my friend Audi 50, yeah OK. It was early after a long night shift..... and I did know it became a polo...... I'll get me coat it didnt 'become' the polo, they were both available at the same time but the 50 was phased out because it was over priced and therefore didnt sell.

I'd prefer the Audi 50 to a mk1 polo. Just to be a bit different

I'd prefer the Audi 50 to a mk1 polo. Just to be a bit different id love a genuine one like. but it does my nut in when proper nobbers stick an audi grille and badges on a polo for no reason. its possibly even worse than 318 owners putting m3 badges on the boot.........actually its not because that is truly tragic.

Oh yeah? I got the NOS badges from Rob Simpson, who just so happened to have what i had been looking for, as i had a "up to '78" Polo with metal bumpers, which incidentally was the last year that the A50 was in production, also that the Polo started life as an A50 too, i felt i qualified to do just that. BMWs with M badges on just arent even trying, unless they are the real deal, M tech stuff is also a non runner too. Anyone who knows the obscure is surely a better person than the parts store/got it from the market stuck on curse word any day. And i don't mean rare/obscure meaning rare and E38 scene-ness either. My opinion, my car. Plus when was the last time you saw a true Hartge 3series?
