Thanks, should be living on Mr bo11ox. It was collected for a friend on the BXC in N.Ireland who'd won it on eBay quite cheaply. It is absolutely lobbing out LHM from a high pressure pipe near the back which means rear of car won't lift. Another one of the BXC/BXP gang (who is a whizz with these things) jacked it up and put blocks on it so we could winch it on. Interesting (well, interesting to me) story behind this car in that it was offered as a competition prize by Citroen UK, given to lucky winner and has stayed local ever since. I believe it's only had 2 or 3 owners and quite low miles. Still has original 'Citroen UK' supplied number plates. Anyhow new owner is going to get it on the road asap. Meanwhile it's parked up awaiting repairs to leak so it can be driven back to N. Ireland via Liverpool docks I think. I don't know if you're on BXC or BXP but there's a thread on them about the rescue yesterday.

Had a 1400 BX years ago and i loved it, till the clutch went and i left it by the side of the road....
i would buy a 16v or a TZD if one came up at the right price I am majorly anti French and anti fwd in my car tastes, but i have a real soft spot for all real Citroens...

TZDs are brilliant things. Luckily my last one (an estate with a 1.9TD conversion) is getting repaired by new owner and going back on the road. They never made a 1.9TD BX, any out there are all conversions (despite what some say) but the 1.7TD shift well enough and are quite funky imho. I'm going to ask the new owner of the estate to give me first refusal if he sells it, you honestly would never believe how quick that thing was and it pulled from 30 to 115 in top VERY easily and would undoubtably have gone even quicker. There are still some bargains out there though diseasels are starting to go up in money. 16Vs dropped a bit when the 205 boys moved onto other engines!

If that 4x4 ever comes up for grabs let me know. I have a dream of building a 16v 4x4, maybe with a turbo. I know theres at least one in exitance in france.
Mine is in the niddle of a makeover at the moment. It might end up slightly 'euro look'.

I love BX's.I'm pretty anti french TBH,not really my bad,but I've got a rear soft spot for BX's! Mates dad used to have a beige e-plate deisel back in the day, used to hate it with a passion, now I'd kill for one!

I *think* with a lot of effort and skilzors it's possible to graft the running gear from an MI-16 Pug into/onto a BX so a 16V must be do-able. I'm told a local (to me) Cit specialist has one (possibly an estate) round the back which was used for a courtesy car though no idea if it's still there. If you want any details pm me and I'll send you address and contact details of garage if you like.

Against my better judgement I bought my wife her dream car... a BX TXD (strange girl). Turned out to be a cracking car and it was me that wanted to keep it.
Would love a 1.9 converted TZD estate 4x4. Unstoppable!

Cheers Andy, that would be great if you could.
Matt, I think they are Saxo VTR/VTS alloys. Look quite good as it goes and the standard alloys were inside it. Exhaust is a bit boy racer for my liking but to be fair it does sound really cool.

Horrible evil cars! I had a beige 1.7D, the centre console dug into my left leg and my head touched the roof so had to drive it with my neck bent slightly forward which gave me neck ache. And to think I replaced a 1983 Audi 80 5s with it....

Joking aside I replaced an old Audi 80 (1981 I think) with a BX and thought exactly the opposite. Hell, the Cit was slow but the ride was wonderful and the economy amazing.

Can't argue with the economy, I think I'm just too tall for cars designed for short Frenchmen!
It was also like driving with the handbrake on after the Audi. The brakes on it were well fierce, they took a bit of getting used to. I remember having to replace a brake pipe. It only cost about £4 from the main dealer which I was well impressed with considering it was a long front to rear one.
