*sticks head above parapet*
I like it.... and if they bring out a *cough* Diesel *cough* then I'll probably get one when I'm bored of my MkV GT TDI in a couple of years....
[edit - I especially like the brown leather interior!]

The new Scirocco isn't a coupe like the old Rocco/Rados were, its a hatchback.
It might as well just be the Mk6 Golf.... *sigh*

And whilst we're on about the original golf/rocco base. Wasn't it originally designed for a coupe? So technically the golf stole the roccos bits. I may be wrong on that, I think I heard it somewhere. Not that subtle, in that picture I couldn't actually fit a finger between the front wheels and the arches! Driving it was interesting!

Interestingly enough it was the other way around Mr. Goaferboy. The Scirocco stole bits of the "not even built yet" Golf MKI
Karmann got their new Karmann Ghia up and running, even financed it themselves and with an agreement with VW used the running gear, then called it Scirocco and marketed it as a VW....the MKI Golf didn´t come out until three months later ;D
I´ll go and put my anorak away now, it´s just that I live in Osnabrück and some of my mates work there so you get all the history for free if you´re interested!

Wait, its based on/is a Karmann Ghia now? I confuse too easily...
So this is how I read it. The rocco is a newer Karmann Ghia with parts pilfered from a MKI golf that wasn't actually released yet. That right?

That right? It´s not based on the Karmann Ghia, it was the Karmann Ghia MKII, so to speak and had technically nothing to do with it´s predecessor. Karmann needed something to replace their "old in the teeth" Beetle based Ghia, so they went out and built what was to become the Scirocco. Hope that explains it a bit better? ;D

Yup thats got it now. I spose it would be a bit odd to moan about the new rocco being nothing like the old one when the old one is nothing like the ghia.
That said though, at least they gave it a new name rather than relying on the name to sell it.

You too can be part of the Scirocco foundation. Imagine, if only you had a mint 93 GTII model but where would you find one........
