you cant just post things this cool and leave. This needs more information! I think that is a Checker airport limousine. Went to Florida in 1995 and there was one of those outside a fast food place called Checkers.

But, we never got mayflowers (I don’t think) so it’s a never seen that in the flesh before. The PAO and smart cars were also there with a 65 mustang behind the checker. Oddly, I went to look at a 300CE on Wednesday and there was a mayflower being used as yard art across the road.

146,000 miles on that which is pretty good going, especially when you take a look at its MoT history.

But looking at Your pics once more, me thinks those London cab style cars were meant. Folks: am I right in thinking these have been London cabbies formerly? edit: although I'm not sure atm if cabbies isn't the term used for cab drivers?

Yes, the ones that look a bit like London taxis (also known as 'black cabs') are Triumph Mayflowers. They would not have been used as London taxis, as there are specific criteria that black cabs must fulfil, a very tight turning circle being the most well-known. But a London taxi driver would definitely be known as a cabbie!

Ah yes, the noble hotel forecourt turning circle, I've heard about it. Thanks for that lesson, Del!

There's a potted history of the Triumph Mayflower here They may look like black cabs but much smaller- think Ford Pop sized, give or take an inch.

Ford was at the dealership where I was grabbing a fishbowl… I mean a fog light, my current fog light is a fishbowl. The 36 Chevy was just tooling along Main Street.

Was here in Looe 2 years ago and I am sure I snapped this and posted it. Still looking good if it's the same one.
