Hello, I'm new here, so please be gentle...this may not work. Thought you might like to see these Oz based Euro classics: Two nice Skodas This is quite awesome Couple of nice DS Selection of Renaults My dad had one of these. it rusted to death Then he got one of these, but UK spec without the cool quad headlights, and in a boring colour: metallic green and iron oxide. Speaking of quad headlights, I want one of these. oh..and one of these as well.

Did they f*ck! Back in the 90s the likes of Fast Ford, Fast Car even Max Power featured them. They have always been popular & will continue to be! The prices are rising all the time & will continue to do so whereas a piece of curse word throwaway plastic AX or Nova will go down in price & never command the sort of money solid Mk1s & 2s do Well done for proving my point for me. All the boy racer mags featured them. But read a proper mag from the same period and they were laughed at continually, even to the point of having photos of them to point out how slow they were. Just because the prices are rising it doesn't mean they're deserving of the prices they fetch. Face it without spending thosands on modifying them they're not good performance cars, even the sporty models. A stock RS2K is slower than a Nova GTE for instance. Matt

FWD cars not rust then Alistair? Mrs Akku has owned 3 Minis and a Ford Ka. So yeah. Personally, at the time and now I think I'd have had Paz's Mk1 Escort over my Mk1 Astra (I kind of bought it of my mum due to a Morris Minor I owned having expired with all my savings invested in it) but I'm just pointing out that contrary to the rose-tinted hindsight of todays enthusiasts not all of them thar RWD Fords were always regarded as the epitomous rally slag and ultimate road car. The fact they ar well regarded again now is not indicative of them always being so. I remember arguing the toss at some great length with a lad because I said I'd rather have a Mk1 RS2000 than a (then new) Mk4 XR3i. ALl yer Jerremy Clarkson types and the like were praising FWD and slagging off RWD. Fashions change.

Got to disagree with that (being a 'curse word throwaway plastic AX' owner) yes the prices are low now but the prices are already starting to rise for the better examples. I picked up my Ax GTi's at £200 and £400 a piece and both were very good condition. In todays market these go for upwards of £600 easily. The prices for reasonable and good Gt's and GTi's are increasing as they become rarer and collectable, its the same with 205 GTi's and it will eventually be the same for original Nova Gte's and Gsi's. Yes they will never be as desirable as mk1 and mk2 escorts but they are 20 years older so cant be compared, in 20yrs time Novas and Axs maybe worth the prices mk1s and mk2s are today but in that 20 yrs they will have gone up in price relative as well.
