Passed a porsche boxter this morning, first thing I noticed was the numberplate..
chrome surround, playboy bunnys either end, reads B MY 848Y......
looked up, at the wheel of the porsche is a bald mid 40s bloke with a 'tache, wearing aviator shades and stringbacks ;D Definition of a midlife crisis? or has Hugh Heffner moved to Stanley??
I ran a vehicle check to make sure I wasnt dreaming, the car is real.. The vehicle details for BMY 848Y are:
Date of Liability 01 07 2008 Date of First Registration 22 07 1999 Year of Manufacture 1999 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2500CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol/Gas Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour SILVER Vehicle Type Approval null The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry. Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £99.00 12 Months Rate £180.00
anyone got any more?

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Used to be a Lotus in my parents village with theplate
130LOX which almost reads like the name of a forum member here. Especially if you push the 1 and 3 together.
I saw MOV1E on a Bentley just last week.
A local Rover P6 when I was a kid made me laugh as the plate was NOB 61N (spaced NOB 6 1N) which isn't much of a boast as 6 inches is about average, but made me laugh anyway. And still would. In fact still does.
My chum Phill has a Renault Avantime (built by Matra) and the plate on that is M4TRA. He also has a Delorean with a private plate which reads SORBET so I guess must be SOR83T. Which is less cool.
I like plates which are relevant to the car, not mis-spaced or otherwise chavved up. Sadly they are well expensive. I could have bought "FD2000" when I had a Victor FD 2000. Except the price was £7K. No thanks then.
I hate people who mess their plates and spacing up to make stuff look like it reads something when it doesn't
For example - a Jag in my parents village when I was a kid had the plate CHR15 - which is cool. When I lived in Carlton a local BMW had the plate "MICKY" which was in fact N11GKV but so messed about with you may as well just have thrown the plate away and written "Micky" on the boot. twatburger.
Best one is that pro street 105E anglia with the plate BAD105E.
I did wonder about that old Jag in my parents village when I heard the DVLA had auctioned the plate CHR1S off for a huge sum (£30K or something mad). Surely the two plates would be easy to confuse? And now CHR1S is on a 1995 VW Golf LOL. Talk about the plate being worth more than the car. Or rather, weird priorities.

Plates like that make me laugh, Mr average spends loads of cash on a flash car, then does everything possible to draw attention to a £10 number plate.
There was a large Mercedes around here, lurid yellow colour, with B122 ARE on it.

I could be wrong, but i seem to remember something from the feature, that the guy with 'BAD 105E' rang up the dvla to see if he could have that plate, and they issued the plate so he could buy it - or is my memory broken this morning???

I so want this plate for my K70. Sadly, it no longer resides on a K70 - it lived on a Skoda for a bit after this car was scrapped, and then a Passat. Bet the owner wants billions of £ for it as well.

There is a (really boring and standard) Mk3 Astra that live near my girl friends parents, the plate says..... L17 ARD ....always made me smile. However in general I think private or personallised plates are a bit sad, unless it relates directly to the car i.e. a Nissan 200SX with an S14 would be quite cool.

A chap in my village (who is quite well off, obviously) has a race-tuned Ferrari F50 with the plate 'F50 MOD' which is quite cool. He's got all the GT panels for it to change for racing, too.

Must admit, as I do a lot of motorway miles it's a bit of a hobby/OCD of mine to 'notice' plates that say something. Some of them a real good and I wonder if the drivers/owners are aware of their plate. I can't think on any off the top of my head at the mo' though.
I really like plates that say something but I'm not quite as keen on the one's that tell you what kind of car you're in and I really can't stand plates with initials on them. Just my opinions mind!!
What did make me lose my coffe trhough my nostrils a few years ago was just after England beat Germany at that game where they kick a ball into a net, a Brummy couple went on the national news as they'd just spent £2k each on a couple of plates, (I think they were both along the lines of 'EN 53 GER'.). When asked if they were looking forward to putting them on their car's, they said they'd love to, but it was going to be a few years before they could afford a car to put them on!!!

LMAO. I've seen a few which were funnier than perhaps they meant to be. this Lexarse is not exactly SH1T, but its SH1TISH! My old morris minor had lost its original plate which was somethign like 169GAY (but not that as I've checked) which was sold onto a local guy with an XJS. I'm kinda glad it had been reregistered when I bought it.... freaskish Dr Who fan says "bigger on the inside" on the bottom of the plate too. Used to see a Volvo 740 with the devilish plate A666ERA. pretty cool, I have a photo somewhere. Not amusing, but quite apt: WTF?

My old Merc had the plate RAD 101 "RADIO 1" on previously. Belongs to a company in Colchester who do car stereos.
