Having never felt my previous "retro" rides deserved a build thread I recently acquired a 1978 Mazda 929.
I can't be sure on the total number of these left in the UK but research has led me to think there can't be more than 10 across the bodystyles.
This example was owned by one family since and for the around the last 16 years has been dry stored and had only travelled a touch over 14,000 miles came up for auction this summer. One of my absolute dream cars has always been a RX-4 but I'm not sure any of the few in the UK are going to be going for sale within any timeframe so I had to take this opportunity.
The plans are relatively simple, update where needed, fit a nice set of wheels and a very slight height reduction. Enjoy.
As found in the auction along with another 6/7 cars from the same estate in Cambridge.
First jobs once getting it home were to check all the essentials, lights fluids etc. and remove the plethora of stickers.
Grill badges straight off and the lights tested, results were only 1 working light
Bolted on fog lights removed (and the required lamp moved to one of the reverse light slots)
I was in two minds about removing the trim plastic, but after the first few drives I couldn't stand driving around with it, off it came.
I've not been great so far at taking pictures of it whilst I've been out and about so we'll have to do with this for the summary of the end of the summer
A few jobs to do over the winter which I'll update as we go and look forwards to getting out next year[/a]
