Today I took the train and collected this rusty old beast, now known as "snotface" 😁 It's got an MOT, but I suspect it's going to need work to get through the next one! Usual rusty sills, arches, fetching rubber matting roof cover fixed with technicoloured screw selection... Definitely a project, but that's why I bought an old car. I'll take more pictures tomorrow and show it off some more.... 🤣👍🏼   |

The story goes that the car was stored in a barn during the winter of 2004, and one dark and snow stormy night the roof collapsed under the weight of snow. Apparently the roof was only dented and creased but someone decided it needed a lovely bit of rubber matting screwing to it. At some point I'm going to remove the mat and panelbeaterpeter will be helping me assess the damage from a thousand screws and fit a new roof skin... (There may be some dramatisation involved in this post, but that's the basic truth...) |

I didn't spot the roof in the first photos! That'll be a fun one to repair. Will bookmark the thread to see future progress  |

The other side looks worse with the big gouge and some rusty shenanigans going on under the roof trim rail... All looks like his messy fun though eh! I need to write a list of jobs in priority order, firstly to get it driving better, and to get through it's okay ever MOT in July... Then I can just work through the rest at a more leisurely pace.. It'll be a long list 👍🏼    |

Yep it's making a great rust catcher! And tonight I found the original toolkit, more rust hiding behind underseal, and water in the rear footwells... Amongst other exciting things like some very old looking labels!    |

Been a bit quiet due to family and life nonsense. Got some sill panels ordered up from Trabhan in Germany, currently waiting for our lovely customs process to complete. And done some more exploratory digging... Even more rusty patches to keep me busy! And look how tiny those front brakes are!      |

Great car, I have fond memories of a 2.5 5 cylinder 190d that I had 15 years ago. Not fast but so reliable and supremely comfortable. Is this a 4 cylinder 2.0?
