Here for sale is my friends dads Standard Ensign 1958 , 1.7 petrol. The car started it's life in Gibraltar and was brought to England in 1966. It previously under went a full restoration and was in regular use until 2005.
The car was in use until 2005 when it was vandalised whilst in the garage . The rear window was smashed and the door dented A replacement window was sourced but never fitted it has been taped in place to keep the car water tight . The owner then sadly passed away a few weeks later before the car could be returned to the road
The car was then inherited by a friend of the owner who rebuilt the engine , had all of the engine bay painted whilst the engine was out of the car . The car has since been kept in a dry garage from summer 2005 until 27th of April 2024 when it was removed from its slumber.
The Ensign needs restoring but is solid and would become useable again . The engine will need some oil pouring down the bores and some tinkering to get it running but as its done next to no miles since it was rebuilt there shouldn't be a lot to do to get it going again.
The car would now benefit from being repainted unless of course you like the original patina , it's still solid with no visible rot thanks to it being garaged .
Whilst the current owner has had it since 2005 , the previous owner bought it in 1988 and restored it with the current owners assistance.
Included with the car is the original bill of sale , historic insurance certificates, trophys from shows it previously won prizes In , hand books , old number plates from Gibraltar and when it was first registered in England . I have alot more photos of the car but can't get them all on the listing due to restrictions on ebay. The first 3 photos are of the car in its former glory along with when it was purchased in the 80s restored and reregistered . Once the car has been restored and passed an mot it can be registered as a historic vehicle and will be mot and tax exempt as long as it it isn't modified .
Collection is from Birmingham B33 by pre arranged appointment. My friend Paul can be contacted on 07722 576 348.
