Thought I’d stick a thread up about the fiat panda 100hp I’ve just picked up. Recently had my first child so need something a bit more child friendly as the Land Rover 90 isn’t. Found this locally relatively low mileage for the age of it with part service history. Plans are to clean it up as the paint work isn’t the best and the interior stinks of wet dog. Once it’s had a deep clean it needs a service and some general maintenance then I’ll do some subtle mods (oem+). thanks for looking.

Pretty cool, always admired these, although I currently have an Abarth Grande Punto Esseesse with pretty much the same paint colour (mine's Scorpion Black). I've heard of folk putting the AGP engine (155/180bhp as standard, and easily tweakable for much more)/gearbox in these, or general Abarth type mods.

Yeah, the Tjet swap seems the only real option for an engine swap with these. It needs a suspension/ beam refresh first though, currently waiting for I'm axles to release their new rear beam for the 100hp as you currently can’t buy them new. And quite a few Abarth 500 items fit on these

Being based on presumably the same 1368cc block as the Abarths, isn't it simply a case of swapping the relevant T-Jet or even Multiair parts onto it?

Being based on presumably the same 1368cc block as the Abarths, isn't it simply a case of swapping the relevant T-Jet or even Multiair parts onto it? I thought the same but from what I’ve read the 100hp engine can only take around 140bhp before the gearbox and internals start to throw a wobbly so it’s cheaper to just swap the engine rather then turbo the existing unit.

So I’ve fitted some wind deflectors as I always drive around with the window down and I’m currently going through the stages of clay barring, cutting, polishing and waxing every panel. Obligatory snow foam picture and 2 bucket wash front passenger wing before and after Quite a few marks on the bonnet managed to get most of it out. Before and after the paints never going to be perfect quite a few stonechips but I’m happy with the improvement still got a load of panels to do, which I’ll hopefully do today and I want to restore all the plastics aswell. thanks for looking.

Had a rain free day today so done some more bits and bobs on the panda. First up all the black plastics are faded and now a lovely shade of grey. So after doing some research gtechniq c4 seems to be the best trim restorer. So cleaned all the plastics with some apc and gave them a good scrub and then wiped down with panel wipe, the g4 was easy to apply using the applicator and then buffed with a micro fibre cloth. I’m happy with the results and if they stay like this for the claimed 2 years it’s definitely worth the price. Trims before: and after: Also replaced the cabin filter, looks like the old ones been in a while replaced the air filter aswell. All the lower bolts in the air filter had rusted to nothing so replaced all of them with some nice stainless bolts. and while the air box was off I changed the plugs. next up will be an oil/ oil filter change and a new water pump and timing belt when I get a chance to fit them. thanks for looking

Another little update, the old fog lights have seen better days, the inner chrome has started to peel off the reflectors and gone yellow. so I purchased new fog lights, bulbs and some stainless steel hardware. I’ve wrapped the new fogs with some yellow tinting wrap. First time wrapping anything and it’s harder then it looks took me about 3 attempts on the first fog. Reading up on changing the fogs everyone says it’s a pig of a job to replace them as the old fixings have normally rusted to nothing and need drilling out. Think I got lucky as every screw came out easily. Thanks for looking.

2 lessons learned today: 1. Don’t trust eurocarparts reg checker, ordered an oil filter and it’s miles to big, so ordered another from Halfords which was correct. The oil filter is tiny on this. 2.most Allen key sets only go upto 10mm the gearbox fill hole is a 12mm.
The gearbox only had a litre of oil in it, supposed to have 1.7l and I could only find 75w85 oil online. But now it’s got the correct amount in so hopefully will make the gearbox smoother.
Hopefully going to jack it up this week and strip the arch liners off, degrease/clean underneath then coat everything with a healthy amount of dinitrol and BH dynax.

My Multipla also required a 12mm allen for the gearbox drain and fill plugs, with the added joy of the drain being so awkwardly positioned that you had to shorten the said allen key's head to gain access!

The panda luckily wasnt bad for access and the fill was 12mm but the drain was 8mm, noticing loads of weird quirks like this while working on it

Don’t know if anyone can help me? I'm after the part numbers or equivalent for these fasteners. It’s the middle plastic nut (has A831 and a 5 on the back) Also the weird dome thing on the right (has tucker, 82, P-306 on the back) otherwise I’m tempted to use metal washers and nuts but I’d rather keep with these as they come off really easy and won’t rust.

I have to say, this has been an enjoyable thread on winning the car around, and getting it right.

So finally finished sealing underneath. Cleaned the arch liners with soap and water to get the mud off. The arch liners didn’t turn out perfect I could splurge out on some more c4 trim restorer to improve them more but don’t see the point as it’s underneath. Fitted them all back up with new stainless hardware where I could and plenty of grease. Not sure if a panel is missing in the picture below the other side has a plastic liner where that gap is (to the left of the strut above the calliper). While it was up in the air I wire brushed the rear subframe then gave it 2 coats of hydrate 80 rust converter, 2 coats of rustoleum, then 2 coats of dynax uc. It’s not a perfect job but better then it was. A picture of it back on 4 wheels, (also painted the panda badge red as it was faded pink) Hopefully we get decent weather next weekend so I can give it a good wash and finally got a little upgrade for it, some abarth front callipers, I while get a rebuild kit for these and have a go at refurbishing/ painting these along with some new discs upfront. Thanks for looking

Had 30mins spare so decided to fit the Abarth 595 pedals, they come with all the screws and some pedal drilling guides (6mm drill bit if any one’s wondering). The pedal set: Old pedals: The Drill guides in place and a cornetto box to catch most of the swarf: The finished product: While I was in the footwell I noticed it was damp. The bulkhead drains on 169 seem to always get blocked, pre Covid I was looking at buying a 1.1 panda and every single one I looked at had blocked drains and wet footwells. A Quick Look under the scuttle confirmed it Drains popped out and full of curse word: All cleaned out: While I was under the scuttle one things that has bugged me since I’ve had the panda, is the wiring loom tape has disintegrated under there. So I’ve re wrapped it with some cloth wiring loom tape. On the Landrover I’ve wrapped parts of the loom with this tape and it’s stood the test of time off roading but I’m wondering if it would be worth wrapping some electrical tape over the cloth tape for extra protection? I’ve also collected this steering wheel from a s4 abarth 500 it’s a straight swap and it’s not sticky unlike the current steering wheel. One thing that is bugging me is the misbadging (steering wheel, pedals, looking to get abarth seats) it’s kind of like putting M badges on a 316. Think the only way to justify them is put a tjet engine in it but that’s a long way down the line. thanks for looking.
