Thought I would post up some pictures of my latest acquisition, and wondered if anyone here knew anything about them.
Nelco produced them from the late thirties through until about the sixties, so this is a fairly late example. 36 volt electric, 35 mile range, 12mph top speed, hand controls akin to that of a garden spade . Allegedly the "rolls royce of bath chairs" when new.
I acquired it from a Neighbor who was having a clearout. He bought it in 1998 from the original owner (an oxford university lecturer, thats a university parks permit on the front!) and thinks he won't realistically ever get round to it. He offered it to the national motor museum at Beaulieau shortly after he acquired it, but they didnt want it at the time, and it's been sat in a garage ever since.
Whislt it is in (my) dry storage now, Unfortunately I don't currently have anywhere under cover that I can work on it. If anyone in the south oxfordshire area has something they would be happy to rent me, please get in touch!
As and when I do though, plan is: Straigten out the slightly bent front end, new tyres, rebuild the brakes, install modern batteries to the original spec. Then bang around in it!!!
Anyway, pictures:
Hopefully have some updates soon!
