As far as the car itself goes, to make it a little less abstract, Think of a road track car (a regular circuit, but also usable for shorter tracks, and/or hillclimbs), front/ mid engined, about the weight distribution of a Formula Ford, and about the wheelbase of a Austin Healey Sprite. In other words, small and light... Which makes me think of Morphed with this With a dose of - Because what else you going to do with that spare foot Fiddle brakes

If it Helps MS , i built a clutched automatic for my tvr in the early 90's .
I used a c4 , and fitted a b and w transpak , this gave a choice of shift ferocity, i went for the middle setting , and i can definitely say shifting on boost in any gear felt like something had just run into the back of the car .
off boost it was gentle .
i had 3 manual gears i could select with my foot flat down ,and no clutch needed .
a drawback was the 2.3:1 1st gear was too high, when drag racing on treaded tyres i found some 23'' tall tyres to lower gearing , a good point was i could burn out at whatever rpm i liked .
i drove it on the street like this for a while , i liked it , however i could tell less power was available compared to the manual box .
the video on my youtube channel of the tvr in green running a 12s run was with this box.
i still have it if you want any pictures of it .

I mean, this isn't normally the sort of car we discuss around these parts, but the Koenigsegg Regera did away with the transmission and uses only a torque converter, and that doesn't seem to be unduly hampered by sluggish acceleration. If anything, it's quite nippy. Clever idea I thought. If he can do it....

Nothing wrong with the 3½ gears you get with a Powerglide.
Particularly if you use a converter with a lockup clutch and control that...

Looking for that Mallock U2 Mk6 I found a little story in germanys leading car mag auto, motor und sport. It was about a car purchased by a german in the netherlands. It was left by an almost two metres tall dutchman who went to the USA in the 90s. Was that You metalshapes? The car got stolen later, then found and finally it landed in an auction. Here is the link, I know You can read some german.

From memory it used a peculiar metal belt that pushed rather than pulled, although I can’t remember much more without digging out one of my old books. I do remember that they could be interesting to drive; some would literally launch when you selected drive, almost to the point of stalling the engine, just what you need in a car usually driven to little old ladies 😂

I will have to try and remember to have a chat with my mate Roy - He told me story about Spen King, a large capacity tuned Rover V8, a Westfield and a torque converter. I'm sure he said that it just had the one speed.
Can well believe it as my G27 only really needed 5th once you were rolling.

The CTX - My mum was about to buy one when I convinced her to buy a second hand VW Golf GL convertible Auto instead.

Here is the link, I know You can read some german. I'm tall ( not quite 2 metres, though), from the Netherlands, and moved to the States in the '90s. ( so parallel lives, or they borrowed some of my history... ) But that is not my car. ( cool article BTW) I took mine with me, and I still have it. I bought it from a racecar dealer in Dover in the '80s. Here is a pic he took of me, the first time I sat in it. And here is a pic of Arthur Mallock, working on my car. And a more recent pic.

Yes, my Mk6. But that is not the car this thread is about. The one this thread is about is a Clubmans racer ( not a Mallock) , a much later version ( more aero, rear wing/ high downforce nose/ sidepods), in need of a full resto. Hopefully, if everything goes well, it will end up looking a lot like this one.

Slightly different take on the idea, How about automating a manual box Use standard clutch for pulling away and stopping Use solenoids to control the shifts, with ignition cut to allow the gears to move Ttfn Glenn

when whas the pic taken?
The car is registered in Hagen, where I lived from 1980-88 and 1998-99, and the registration HA-TZ forms the German word for chase or hustling along. I've never seen the car on the road though.
