Spoke too soon, pagination is broken again today. Pretty sure it was working when I went to bed last night though :/

Yeah, just noticed that - although, rather than dumping you at the bottom of the page you're moving to, it's taking the scroll position of the current page and placing you at the same point on whichever page you move to. Not sure if it was doing that previously?
EDIT:
It will dump you at the bottom of the last page in a thread if you're at a scroll point lower than the last page's depth on the preceding page - if that makes sense.

Pagination hasnt been working on my Samsung Note9/Chrome for the past few days. always leaves me at the same point on the next page as I was on the one previous.
and another minor thing, I cant see a box for the emoticons on desktop mode (unless its a box with no name I don't know about )

So today I tried to work out pagination issues : failed
Tried to sort out the issues with quoting (and the rando added carriage returns) : failed (but have a new plan which I'll work on over the weekend)
Tried to sort out the menu oddness : think I succeeded
Looking at adding emojis to the editor : think I can do it, but will take a little while
Replaced the Participated link in the menu : now the "new" icon doesn't work because of some other madness. Got a plan to fix that up.
So not an entirely successful day.
Oh and I'm trying to stop the ads loading before the consent stuff has loaded. Also failed.
Sigh

Hi HoTWire one more you may be aware of. Using the old style forum, this message now comes up when you turn the page using the page number. Hope that helps.

That is actually useful grizz . I'd suspected the issue with pagination was something to do with the Google tags, that kind of confirms it (will try and get the old site working normally again tomorrow too, had to move some stuff around to debug new site today).

Little late to the thread, but thank you for all the hard work, and no doubt pulling out of hair that have resulted in a better RR! 👍

Sorry, quieter couple of days on this than I anticipated, other stuff coming in over the top.
One small update, Participated now displays its new button and redirects to the full page, rather than do the weird pop up which doesn't work on mobile/smaller screens.
Tomorrow work will continue on fixing quoting and editor issues. Maybe pagination as well if I can find time to try and work that out again.

Hi @hotwire - thank you for all that you have done. However - I cannot seem to create a new thread in the Technical Section. I get the correct boxes, everything is there, but when I click the "Create" tile, nothing happens. I'm using Microsoft Edge with Windows 11 on a laptop. The text doesn't disappear - I just can't make it work - the screenshot is of what I see before filling in the gaps.

Sorry Mr Wire,
Another minor niggle with the editor that I haven't seen mentioned. I had posted a piece with some bold text in it. I then had to edit it because, reasons. When I looked at the repost it had lost the bold (and removed a few line feeds in the process) so I had to edit it again to put it back.
That was on Safari.
James
Just editing in Chrome to see if it does the same... ... And yes it stripped out the bold. Sorry!

Are there plans to include all of the old editor functions as per the old version? - We appear to have lost half of the functions which makes it very difficult to post in the same "style" as before. At present the new layout appears to be geared towards readers of posts and not posters of posts. I think for board use and growth that's the wrong way round.

Are you wanting comments/suggestions about the desktop view on a mobile phone yet?

Yes please. I've got a list of stuff already, but as I've been finding my priorities don't always like up with users.
Other folk that have replied to this since my last post, all taken on board and added to the list. Ultimately I'd like the editor to have pretty much the same functionality as the old one.

I normally switch to desktop on my phone if I want to post a picture but have tried and now some pictures won’t upload, some will but when I try to post it I get a pop up box at the top of the screen saying I need to write a message even though I’ve added text to the post

Hi HoTWire one more you may be aware of. Using the old style forum, this message now comes up when you turn the page using the page number. Hope that helps. Funny thing with these popups, they stick to the page and scroll away not like standard popups that are separated from the background window.

Okay here is my plan:
I'm going on holiday for the rest of this week from tomorrow, some actual time off.
So I'm going to revert the editor to the older editor today. The layout will stay with the newer layout. That should resolve a lot of issues as it seems that some minor bugs in the html->bbcode and bbcode->html code I've got are causing major issues, and they are not a quick fix sadly (having spent three evenings looking in to them).
After I've done that I'll update the list of what needs work (as per reports on the forum) and work through those as quickly as I can. Will revisit the editor later, may even try out some other options, although this one is my favourite. Really want this image upload experience to be as slick as possible (and in the right order).
So hang tight and hopefully by this evening the editor will be back to where it was, and I can concentrate on solving other issues before coming back to it.

Thank you, been a busy/tough couple of months for various reasons. I think this is back to where it should be on the editor front. Main focus now will be getting the forum layout mobile ready then. I'll revisit the editor later. I learned a few things that may make the image upload make more sense and order properly, but for now we've taken a few steps forwards, a few steps back and a few steps sideways. The Cookie consent stuff I'm not sure why that is being problematic btw, that code hasn't really changed for months. I have done a bit of reconfiguring in the back end in order to try and get it to stop the ads from loading before the consent has been given (you'd think given that they are all one and the same system it would do this by default, but no, Google is making me work for it!). That shouldn't trigger repeat acceptance though :/ ... I'll have a look tonight and see if I can see why it might be happening

Thanks for all your work and keeping the community updated. As far as your post above, it all looks like swahili to me
