Further updates from the land of Dez. I have been travelling for work a bit so not updating the thread. Transmission tunnel needed work, and the odd transit shifter position makes it "characterful" The pedal box needed work as the clutch was pendulum and the brake was organ. This means relocation of the brake master cylinder but the stock one was done for anyway. A Ford Cortina was the donor, adapted with a little Dez magic Luckily it seems the silver paint applied to the original grill shell is comign off and the original chrome is OK underneath Wiring has also been attended to, such as there is in this car, and safened with the inclusion of an actual fuse box.

homersimpson there’s more than one similar vehicle about. I met a guy road testing a jag engined Brit saloon done back in the day when I lived near Ipswich. I think it was a MO morris Oxford though. Essentially the same car with a considerably less ugly front end. That thing is massively overpriced in its current state. Part of the appeal of cars like this at the moment is the market is falling as people who take them seriously are dying off. Shabby ones are becoming good cheap fun, there’s loads of stuff around sub 5k. The 6/80 was based of the Morris Isis not the Oxford. Both are pretty rare these days. Its the MO back end but on a much longer wheelbase to accomodate the six cylinder engine, I think a predecessor to the C series. I suspect that price was an opener for negotiation as its sold now and £10K was certainly not a viable price. No idea what the XK engine and Moss box in it were worth on their own though?

The 6/80 was based on the Morris Six although strictly speaking they were both (Six and 6/80) based on the MO. The MO front was stretched 6" to accommodate the straight six and the first Six's on the road broke the chassis rails due to the weight and leverage. This was cured with large gussets in the engine bay. There are about 20 Sixs left on the road including my old one which was 460 Ford powered and around 500 horse (not a lot of Six structure left).

Funny that they also did a shorter stretch on the Wolseley 4/50. Also longer than the MO as far as I can tell.

Ah yes, it became the Isis on the Series II platform!

Different bonnet and grill. That was the only sheet metal difference. One of my Six doors came from a MO.

horrido - thanks for that, very illustrative. I think the 4/50 probably has the best proportions of those three.

Nice job on the master cylinder Good good see someone (Dez ?) looking after their hearing with proper ear defenders (Peltor Optime's) I've used Peltors for over 30 years and Optime's since they were introduced, very effective my hearing is still good after years of working in engine/hydraulic pump rooms, supercharged V16 EMD's are not quiet 👍

I really like this! Just proves the point that you don't have to spend a fortune to have a neat little hot rod and it doesn't have to be perfect to be cool.

More fun and fiddly bits making the brakes actually work - the pedal box is about finished as of this week, there's some work to do to fit up an bleed up and it should be stopping properly.
The fuel sysem probably wants a flush out, theres some bits and bobs of electrical work to do and a bit of refitting and mackling up. Theres still the heater to go in and the wiper motor is missing which will require something adapting. Then its pretty much onto bits of bodywork & this n that and the home straight for phase 1.

The Wolseley continues to come together. Brakes and pedal box is the main current focus. Looks too nice to put your feet all over... Also I am busily dealing with the DVLA on the registration still. So thats basically where that is at

Dez now has it all installed... However we are missing a vital item... It goes here on the front brake It is an odd size because of the bigger lines. It’s 7/16”UNF. We can buy 3/8” for the later cars but can’t find one of these. Anyone any ideas or suggestions, welcome...

eBay has come good on the brass banjo and now other work is taking place. Because I am proper fancy and a bit nesh I have acquired a heater for the car and Dez is installing this as part of the works I grabbed that off eBay a little while ago testing the core Various repairs to the unit itself... Also new brake lines being run... and some weldy action where holes discovered.
