Hope you're well, you may remember me from RR building an XJ40 from a XJR6. Nearly finished and I'm really pleased with it. Finished? - that could nearly mean another six months lol!- I found the dreaded "R word" under the front chassis legs and the rear cross member was horrible - all do-able in the next coupe of months.
Just to spice things up I bought an early XJ6 S1 1969 Chrome dial c/o Fleabay (Unseen of course- as you do twixt t'internet and a whiskey glass)
Truthfully I don't know much about these early XJ's albeit I've always been around Jags- as a young lad I grew up around them and was often ferried to school in a sable brown S1.
Plans are to do an "Period Patina Rebuild" - that is to say, it won't be a spit and polish, it may (probably) have mis-matched shiny paint along with a few rust blemishes on the chrome etc.
I like Ivan on Shed Racing YouTube and I like honesty in many of the builds I see on here (big fan of XJ40 Turbo diesel). I have a Silver Shadow 2 for the cuff links evenings and the '40 supercharged for Brands Hatch etc so this one will be different.
If anyone feels like chipping in and telling me what to look out for, what is precious in a S1 etc, I'd really appreciate your input and advice and of course if you have any parts that you'd like to sell then pls drop me a line
