Hello all, usual story, long time lurker first time poster
Been meaning to start this thread for just over a year now since I bought this car but I always have anxiety posting about something when I never know if I'll ever get it to state where I'm really happy, but here we go!
April 2022 I was still trying to shift my previous "project" Saab 900 when this showed up.
120k miles, 2.0 3SGE manual with air conditioning
Was trying to just live a one car life for a bit and enjoy having money. I've always liked Celicas thinking I'd one day own a gen 7 but really much preferring the earlier ones. However for some reason I knew that these convertibles were quite rare. I've had a couple of convertibles in my short time and I have a bit of a fetish for them so I thought this really sounded my bag.
Messaged the old couple on Facebook on a friday and went over to Exmouth saturday morning with my friend. Sure it needed some looking at with paint and the underside looked crusty, but as far as I was aware it was alright! And plus I absolutely loved driving it, loves to rev, some sort of aftermarket exhaust I think. So I parted with my hard earned cash and drove her back to Plymouth, windows rattling all the way.
My cheesy grin. The car looking resplendent with her door protectors and some typical early 00's (?) Wolfrace alloys.
Now that we were both safely back, having followed my friend in my daily Golf because I didn't have anywhere to put my phone for GPS, lets look at the condition a bit more closely.
Bodywork overall is pretty good for her age and mileage.
Other than this ding on the front, I think a low speed collision as nothing behind the bumper seems to be damaged, but the metal license plate was pushed into the bumper and the paint above has spiderwebbed and started peeling.
And a little bit of grot underneath the door "protectors".
Interior with delightful rubber mats.
Poor night time engine bay shot. But really not too bad.
Most of the suspension is in a state similar to this.
Rear window which is no longed sealed at the top
Slightly suspect rear quarter window which doesnt go up or down and is completely misaligned. We'll find out the issue here soon!
