Picked this up a couple of weeks ago from a chance bud eBay as usual. Didn’t think I’d win as didn’t have the room to be honest. But here it is. Sat under a tree for 16 years, now finally may get some love again and hopefully back on the road. It has come with a lot of parts and all seems complete. A decent rear end, new fuel tank and some cills. They’re a fe patches to sort in the floor pan but nothing crazy. The engine has had some parts thrown at it from what I can see. The only real concern areas are around the screens, very bubble and probably holes through once paint comes off. But watch this space

still havent started this yet, really need my manta coupe shell sold and out the way for the room to get the ramp in. I am debating trying to ge the engine running and see what it's like before I make the decision of whether to install a V8 and box from a Monaro. the c30se will need a lot of money throwing at it to get it to lotus power levels, there is plenty of room in the bay from what I can see to wedge a V in there

Packaging space probably make Two more cylinders much easier than two turbos, plumbing & cooling.

Exactly. Like it’s meant to be IIRC the same bodyshell was used for the Aussie market commodore, which was fitted with a 5.0 V8, so it shouldn't be a major headache... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Commodore_(VN)I know that for the next generation the bodyshells were basically the same but the front subframes were quite different to fit the V8, but don't know for this generation...

Yeah the related vn/vp commodore got the 5.0 hec 5000i aussie v8, but they're quite tight in there. This age of holden is getting rare over here (I'm in NZ) but if you get stuck on any specific conversion bits I can try and track them down

VN-VS still shared more of the earlier 1978 floorpan than Carlton/Omega. Holdens V8 might have swapped starter motor over to passenger side for more room compared to LHD oriented products? Modern Monaro was another generation along however with a return to Chevrolet's V8 (& Buick derrived Supercharged V6 option). Not sure what the Cadillac Catera engine bay looked like...

Catera is a rebadged Omega so with the Opel V6.

VN is also about an inch wider than a first Gen Omega. Although Opel did build LS1 powered prototypes of the second Gen Omega.
