I'm about to go get a set of MG straights that have a centre bore of 56.1mm, to put on my Astra that's 56.6mm. I don't know anyone with a lathe, difference isn't huge so how much success do we think I'll have with an air powered grinding stone and a hand file?

Tedious but I would definitely have a go with a dremmel given the slight adjustment. I know nowt about the value of the wheels but only if they were super desirable would they go to a machine shop to be done.

A round flapwheel of about 50mm diameter on a drill worked fine for me.
Just make circles with the drill as to uniformly sand the hole up.
Lot of sanding and fitting to get them to fit correct.

If they're taper or ball seat wheels just chomp them out with whatevers fastest, they're not critical anyway.

All done in about 5 mins with a flap wheel on a mini polisher/drill thing. Thanks guys  |
