The reason that the car for sale is so low is because the builder wanted to keep the stock Miata seat and dash relationship. Raising the body would require raising the steering wheel and abandoning the dash and built in mechanisms. The stuff under the dash was a big part of what I wanted from the Miata swap.Wiring, switches, HVAC and AC, Pedals ,Dash cover ect had a lot of effort put in to them by the Japanese designers who are better at this than I am. The thing is that the windshield on the Morris would have to be lowered to the point where it sits on the Miata dash. the biggest problem I see is the body placement he has at least 3 inches in front of the dash he should have moved the body back 3 inches which is what I am going to do

Agreed. The lesson that I learned when all said and done is that a pair of cars for a body swap should have similar front axle to front seat distances and similar seating spacing side -to -side. I boxed myself into a corner and had to actually extend the Miata wheelbase in front of the firewall by 6 inches; not something I would recommend. The above mostly applies to a car where you want the swap to be invisible to the average observer. If just building a hat-rat-rod, then the game-plan is a lot more flexible. Do you have a plan for wipers? They were quite the challenge to sort out because the Miata dash components left no room for a wiper motor or moving mechanism. Ended up using a system similar to what MG uses with a spiral wire driving gearboxes and the motor mounted remotely in the engine bay. White is Miata Gray is Volvo, so you can see where the two ended up pretty close. The Volvo could have been an inch lower in the perfect world. Apologize if I am hijacking your thread, just wanted to point out some stuff that might be of use along the way.

No worries all input is welcome, no idea about wipers not even close to that yet still cutting out rust and planning body placement. New video out soon with all updates of progress.

I envy that you get to leave the fuel tank where Mazsa put it. I wanted the flat deck of a station wagon behind my seats, and that caused no end of challenges to package a fuel tank and exhaust mufflers in the remaining space.
It is coming along nicely, keep the vids coming.

So will the Jaaaaag V8 fit the MX5 chassis? No it will not fit! Its too wide hits the chassis rails, bulkhead corners, fouls with the sub frame, steering rack and anti-roll bar. Could you make it fit? Yes but not for me at the moment too much to do already so its going into my Transit as planned. I did do a Youtube video on that project so check it out if interested. would maybe fit in a Minor engine bay but its such a big lump! it weighs complete with gearbox 325kg.

I think you could have made the Jag fit. The rear corners of the Miata engine bay are customarily removed when doing any V8 swap. Coyote 4 cam engine in a Miata Just for fun, same engine in a Morris Minor

I may look into it again but for now I want to get more of the project finished. I would like to fit it!

I would keep the Miata drive train. The swapped chassis makes for a nice thrill-ride when asked, but I think that overall, for a car that you would want to drive all the time, the Miata system will make for a better car. It is really hard to beat the OEM drive train department at their game.

I like what I see. Nice work well thought out. So the Jag engine is a go? Pete Thanks no the jag engine is too much work to fit! I am going to stick with the turbo mx5 engine. The jag running gear is all going into the Transit. Really looking forward to cracking on with that so its helping motivate to get the minor done.
