Been some years since I've done a build thread, but seeing as I've got loads of pictures of this I might as well. I picked up this 1977, Greek Toyota 1000 (kp36) about a year ago. As a Ebay listing,it was described as very good original condition and ready to drive away. . It wasn't cheap but would be a great daily driver and would partner my 69 CROWN wagon well. After the drive from Bournemouth to Birmingham I got to see it in the flesh, instantly noticing many bad repairs and dents and to top it off, the engine was knocking. With its condition not matching its asking price,I was about to walk away when the seller started dropping the price dramatically. So from that point the little Toyota became a fun daily project. With alot of the trim in bad way and a side window made of perspex, I had no worries about doing something different with this rare little car. As with most of my cars, height and wheels had to be first on the list. Coilovers made up using the usual escort kit,Toyota tercel inserts to shorten the struts.2" lowering blocks and decambered leaves out back. With the side glass seals being toast and a plastic window, I made the decision to do a van conversion. With some wide steels fitted, things were taking shape. I've always fancied a patinated work truck so with the new van look, I've gone for red that will get sanded into the primer in places and Toyota dealership sign writing. That's about up to date other than the 1300cc 4k engine I've just fitted. Hopefully it will be done and on the road in the next month.

Now that is really nice looking, Not sure about the "patinated" look personally but love the idea of the dealership livery, The stance and wheels look brilliant already, Bookmarked to see where this thread goes, Nigel

Ah, the one that got away. I've stated it before but Racer86's KP30 brought me to Retro Rides in the first place and I was in the process of building my own KP30 Rally car before I ran out of employment and its by-products in 2009/10
In for this all the way!

This has prompted me to go looking locally for one.

The little van is coming on well now, most things sorted apart from the interior. Engine up and running well with the addition of a ultralight flywheel, alloy rad (original was knackered) and a heavily chopped up, escort sportex exhaust. . The downpipe being extremely awkward to clear the steering box but its done now. The interior was mostly ruined by years of owner modifying and sun. .rear seat is good and the fronts are usable but the rest will need doing. . I'm not worried about originality so Mexican blanket door panels etc will work for me. Close to being road ready.

I remember that one, ke20 Corolla. 4age would be nice for this little van. I'll see how the 1300 gets on but a engine swap and rhd conversion are a consideration.
