Okay, this might be a weird question, but here goes...
The UK has ditched the requirement to sit B+E to tow a trailer, correct? But does that only apply to UK citizens and licence holders? Reason I ask is that I'm going to have to come over to pick up two vehicles, and I was going to hire a beavertail twice, and take the ferry, twice. Which I can do on my Dutch licence as long as the MGW stays under 3,5T. However, since the BE requirements have been scrapped, can I then hypothetically tow a car trailer behind the hired beavertail, and have someone with a BE licence meet me at the port when I've got off the ferry here? Or as a foreign licence holder do I have to have BE to tow in the UK?

As far as I understand it, as long as you have the equivalent licence in your country to ours (which you do, as it’s just a normal car licence) then the same law applies.

Can't help on a definitive yes/no so wont speculate, but surely the MAM on a beavertail towing a trailer is going to be >3500kg? Unless you passed before '97 at which point you can have a mam of 8250kg, but then the towing law change wouldn't have affected anything for you.

I'm a bit confused by the above, surely your licence only covers you drive whatever it does in the country it was issued so if in your country you are restricted to 3500kg you don't then get a higher entitlement when you get to this country?
If this were the case then you could get on the ferry at this end but not be able to drive off the other end as you would be subject to your regulations as soon as you get off the boat.

This may help you: www.gov.uk/driving-nongb-licenceFrom the information in your original post I expect you will get the answer "You can drive any type of vehicle listed on your full and valid licence". If you were to exchange your Dutch licence for a U.K. equivalent I suspect you would get the additional B+E entitlement. But if it's not explicitly listed on your Dutch licence, I would say you don't have the category until then.

The B+E hasn't been scrapped i don't think. We just all have it on our licence by default now.
