Given that you can buy two door doors and rear quarters and do the job properly, this doesn't look like a very good method. The short front doors are a dead giveaway.

Some of us could just never afford to buy a good two door car. 4dr are a fraction of the price if you go to the length of replacing rear quarters and inner quarters and the front A pillar you’re around the same price as a good 2dr. This is a poor man’s car with the feel and looks of a 25k 2dr. Just a bit of fun

My 2 cents for what it’s worth is keep it as a nice 4 door. If you don’t do it properly using 2 door panels in and out, if you become bored of it, it’s resale value will be low as the modern Escort bunch are right snobs.
Escorts are now easier than ever to build but also more expensive than ever to build too so you don’t want to be ploughing good money into a folly.
A nice 4 door with a few nice parts would be great, but don’t let my nonsense put you off it’s something you really want to do. I’d quite like to see the build.

As above I'd just leave it a 4 door. I've never seen any car that looks good with just the back doors welded up, the proportions always look awkward as the front doors are far too short.

I have seen pictures of 4dr to 2dr conversions but it's using 2dr doors, B pillar and 3/4's - Looks exactly like a 2dr because it effectively is. Can I admit to having no idea what this means? I have no idea either |

I’m not sure. The prices do appear to vary quite a bit on the FB pages and eBay. I think it’ll be worth more in this form than converted form though. You tend to get a better deal with a mk1 4door though as you don’t see many turned into rally cars. The demand isn’t there for some reason

I suppose the question is, IF you convert a 4dr to 2dr to the point it looks like it was always a 2dr, if no pictures exist of it as a 4dr will it be an actual 2dr or does the vin identify the build spec? As I don't remember seeing number of doors listed on a V5
