Now I have a rented garage with no power, a side of needing to make a bench I thought about making a Bluetooth Speaker. I could and might buy something but I like the idea of using an old Car speaker with a cheap Bluetooth Amp and Battery. My main question is how would you choose and hook up the battery to a matching amp? These are the kind of things i've seen... This might be too small... This one seems to be powered between 9-24v. I'm guessing more likely to run an old Car speaker or something Also like the idea of buying something like this and making it bluetooth... Again Battery wise I don't really know what to use and how it would be rechargeable via USB to make it useful.

For conversions you probably already have a couple of battery options. AAs are fine for lower power. I use 4 Ni-Mh rechargeable AAs in my radio conversion and with a 3W mono amp it's what I'd describe as adequate for playing music and the battery life is really good. Being mono though, it can sound a bit strange when there are stereo effects going on in the music. Stereo would be better. You've got the car battery which is 12V and you can connect to this using ciggie lighter connectors or croc clips. 12V gives you access to more power, obviously. Also, if you've got battery tools, you can get adaptors for the batteries with flying leads to power stuff like this. I've got one for my Makita 18V batteries. This is really convenient and you don't need to worry about sorting out any kind of charging circuit, having yet another charger in the drawer or some dodgy Chinese Li-Ion pouch battery catching fire. On the amps with the Bluetooth built in, you want to get one where the buttons are easily accessible on a single panel, ideally. A lot of them are designed into a compact box and have like the volume control on the front and the connection button on the side or back. This makes it quite difficult to build it into another enclosure (like say onto a front panel) and still be able to get to the buttons.

Cheers for this!! I got a little impatient earlier and bought a pre built Bluetooth/Aux amp (50w a side apparently) and can run between 9-24v.
I did think maybe I could make something up for my Bosch drill battery for ease of charging. Probably the best thing would be buying a USB power bank with a DC to USB lead but I doubt that would be powerful enough? A car battery would be good but I don’t have a spare at the moment. I started looking up building a battery/usb charging situation but it seems completely and I want to be sure it’s not burning down the garage or house while I'm asleep .
I'm not sure if any of those retro dangling speakers would be lower enough watts/ohms ? I guess I could wire it as a single speaker.
I’ll post a photo of what I paid £12 for later. If this doesn’t work for this application won’t be a waste as I’ll use it on my Wharfdales in the front room.

This is the amp I've bought. Still no speakers yet but I ended up going to the tip and picking up a guitar (another story) which took up any search for speakers. Not sure if It would run one of those spherical speakers. I choose this Amp as it has a Bass and Treble on it... hoping I can EQ it from sounding terrible.
