I hate modern cars,
I have a 2011 A3 2.0 TFSI
Ever since i got it its had an engine light that comes on every few days max, P0171 - Bank 1 system too lean.
I knew this when i bought it. It drives mostly fine. There is a bit of hesitation/bucking/stutter around 3K RPM when accelerating hard, clears once its above maybe 3.5/4k RPM? also minor hesitation in higher gears under load sometime, not always.
Idles fine, no other issues at all.
I done the following basics:
New plugs and coil packs
New PCV Valve (Common failure point on these i believe)
New diverter valve on the turbo, apparently common to cause issues around 3k RPM
Nothing has changed/improved anything, fault remained the same and persistent throughout.
The cars been remapped, in my ownership, the fault was there before and still present after so this isn't a contributing factor in my opinion.
I unplugged the MAF and it drives exactly the same, but throws up two additional codes for MAF, so plugged it back in and cleared them. Part of me wonders if i notice no difference with MAF unplugged or plugged in the MAF isn't doing much? But the fact its throwing up additional codes when its unplugged is telling me it knows the difference so it must be doing something.
I was more surprised it ran fine without the MAF being so modern.
More recently its a bit juddery above 60mph, as if its maybe running on 3. Not bad and not always, i thought it was tyres at first but it's not.
My current thinking...
Injector(s)? Could be leaning out due to semi blocked injector? However id expect it to be more obvious throughout the range rather than always the same spot.
I did try giving it to the local Audi specialist, but to be perfectly honest they weren't interested because its been remapped/has an aftermarket diverter valve. told me the yd want to put everything back to standard to diagnose it, despite me explaining all of the above to them, i get it, not worth the time for them/they cant be arsed.
Anyone with any knowledge on these/anyone local to Wiltshire with VAGCom? Beer money up for grabs for anything that can help!
In all honesty i want the light off and it fixed so i can sell it and move back to something that costs me less and i enjoy more!
