I have a rover 111, it has no radio in it atm. the one for it i think is the r660 and they are going for about £80-120 on ebay. Id like to keep it original, but i was thinking that the first thing i would do to it is remove the cover and solder in some wires for a usb device, and then id only ever use it for my sat nav, and for streaming music.
Now, that got me thinking, rover also did a radio blanking plate, so why don't i just get one of those and put some form of usb device behind it. Is there anything that will do the job I'm after?
thanks

I think Blaupunkt and Continental make old-looking, plain HUs with Bluetooth and USB facilities

Blaupunkt do indeed! It's not too bad really. This would also be the easiest solution for you, and you'd gain DAB as well.
To do what you want with a blanking plate, you'd ideally need an amplifier. You can get amps with Bluetooth additions, but you'd need your Bluetooth device to be the volume control as well.

don't think nicking car stereos is a thing these days, most of them now are built in, and used single din ones have so little value overall, I had a few realy good ones from some previous cars, couldnt even give them away for free! just binned them in the end.

In the right market, dependant on the headunit, they can sell well. I’ve kept my Alpine 9887R for this reason. I’ve come close to selling it a few times. I agree that folks don’t tend to rob stereos these days as a whole.
