MK2 son sold a Ford Bob V6 inlet manifold to a guy in eire. Postage was expensive (£48) and we got the post office to fill forms etc because we couldn't make head or tail of the online forms. It's now been returned as 'failed electronic clearance', I think, because their label is damaged. Anyone had problems? It was described on the forms as an engine manifold, not sure what else we could have done. Also the form states CN23, which I think is wrong, as a value of less than £270 it should be CN22 Our local friendly parcelforce guy has said we should claim the post back, anyone ever done this? TIA

Also depends on weight, CN22 for up to 2kgs, CN23 for over 2kgs

I sent a pair of headlamp mountings to someone in Eire, filled all the forms in online, and they just turned up at home a few days later with a sticker on saying "Rejected by Customs" and no more information. I'd previously sent stuff to the same chap using the same carrier without any problems. I didn't think I'd get anywhere trying to claim the postage back, but it was quite a bit less than you paid - if I'd paid £40+ I'd probably have had more of a go.
More recently I've sent some stuff to another chap in Eire and went through Parcelmonkey and used DPD, I had to find codes for the products I'd sent him which took a while, and I was worried, but the parcel arrived there without any trouble. These are metal repair panels, so I doubt the codes I used would be much help.

Thanks guys, we've refunded his money, fortunately after selling someone else messaged asking, and said they'd collect, so resold now. Lesson learned I think, no eire sales in future

Unfortunately all of Europe is still hit a miss or even pot luck! I got slagged off on another forum as I wouldn't send 1 rocker cover gasket to Southern Ireland!

A quick Google finds absolutely loads of people having the same problems, apparently one seller has even accepted the fact that he'll get at least 30% of southern Ireland parcels returned! No wonder people say how expensive cars and parts are out there, it's a shame

I think it may be because VAT needs to be charged by the seller, and for a private seller that would involve a lot of hassle.
