Bit of a disappointing update. Went to start the car and it seems the battery has gone totally flat, not the end of the world. What with one thing and another a few weeks passed by until I've gone to jump start it this morning. Door lock was really stiff trying to get in as obviously the remote central locking was dead. Looked further to try and work out why its suddenly gone stiff and looks like some scrote has either had a go at getting into the car or has intentionally tried to damage the door lock by pushing it in on an angle If you locked the car with the remote but opened it with the key, the lock will be very stiff to operate. It's normal. To fix it, charge the battery and operate the remote a couple of times. Then try cycling it with key and you'll see the difference

The door lock is still in on an angle which will need sorting but fingers crossed its maybe been like that since I bought it and I've just never noticed until now. Will see what tomorrow brings

No real progress other than a couple of times where my sensible head has kicked in and told me to sell it. I've a new van on the way that I'm converting that the money could go towards and with plenty of other stuff on the driveway, it makes sense to. But then I take it for a drive or get an offer to buy it and change my mind again
Tax is due for renewal end of this month and at £424, I've decided the best thing to do would be park it up and see what happens in the coming months. I may no longer "need" my Audi A3 in the not too distant future so could free up some money shifting that, although having been driving that for the past few days am reluctant to get rid of that either

CTEK was a black Friday bargain The when trawling through eBay earlier today, came across a set of alloys that were collection only down in London. As it happens, I'm down that way this weekend in a van. Put in a mega cheeky offer figuring its nearly Christmas so seller might appreciate the cash and if they said no, no drama. A tiny bit of haggling but they only got another tenner out of me so will be collecting shortly fingers crossed 17" Elite alloys for the 90s rep who was doing REALLY well

Long overdue update time. Car got parked up November 22 when the tax expired. Sold my A3 after having to replace rear pads, discs and calipers after my mum forgot to mention it had been making a scraping noise for a while The money I'd had to spend before selling it meant taxing the Omega would have to wait a month or 2. Then a return to British Karting Championships and racing at Le Mans was keeping my bank balance sufficiently low enough to keep it untaxed on my mums driveway Then after realising I was never going to find the time to sort my Sprinter conversion myself, had to pay someone which then prompted the Omega going up for sale. Had plenty of attention, messages and timewasters, but no sale after dropping the price a few times. It hasn't been a total waste of a year though. I ordered a centre headrest off eBay to replace the missing one and actually got around to fitting the wheels I bought Now my mums driveway is getting done, I need to get the car moved and it's given me the nudge I need to actually get the car back on the road again (hopefully)

My dad had one of these brand new in 95, awesome cars. Would like one myself but can never find early pre-facelifts for sale.

Your thread title reminds me of Channel 4’s Peep Show and ‘Project Zeus’.

Taxed and insured and back at mine now. Hosed most of the crud off it, then remembered I forgot to buy more snowfoam and car shampoo with the halfords voucher I got for christmas so didnt wash it properly. New plates fitted though so not a total waste of a day

Cleaning stuff arrived, so gave it a proper bath on Sunday. Managed to have my old trusty washmit fall apart on me and one of my wireless earphones drop into the wash bucket, but apart from that, didnt turn out too bad. Claybar and polish next. Brakes all round and a service on payday me thinks and maybe go nuts and buy the lowering springs that have been on my eBay watchlist for a considerable period of time now

Noticed after washing the car that one of the rear lamps had turned into a fishbowl so replaced that this morning. The new lamp also came with the plastic plastic cover that the old lamp was missing.
Then got around to refitting the bonnet cable to the release handle after realising that was all I needed and thankfully not attempting to fit the whole replacement cable I'd bought.
Then fitted the new bonnet gas struts to replace the saggy old originals.
All boring jobs but needed doing.

Lowering springs arrived today. Just gone to put the box in the boot so they're out the way and splash, the new light seems to be holding even more water than the old one Further investigation required to find out whether its maybe a boot seal or a water drain blocked somewhere that is channelling water into the light.

more beige updates front wipers cabin filter (do wonder whether I've just removed the one it left the factory with - will have to check the service book) went do swap the air filter but it looked brand new so that can go back in the garage for me to forget about and only find after ordering another one when it does need changing

Thought I'd managed to track down an original carphone setup, but then the guy started ghosting me. Had to make do with the latest fad that is bluetooth to make it a bit more practical if the car does become my new daily as of next week Got the car into work to have a go at doing some more dirty bits myself (with a lot of help) Oil and filter Brake fluid change Front and rear discs and pads A new exhaust has always been on the list and having noticed a hole in the one on the car, I can justify this as a necessary expense rather than a modification which takes all the guilt away

40mm springs on and I'm very happy Still rides like a boat, despite many anoraks in the owners club telling me it'd ruin the handling. 1 member who i'm slightly concerned for thinks that in standard form they were a rival for the m3 or porsche 911 of the time. May have to sell the old bus sadly as another car I've lusted after for years has come up and I don't have space for everything

Looks sensational, I too had strange experiences with a Vauxhall forum when I owned an omega, I gave up with asking questions on there
