Have a 1988 aerodeck with a problem, with the sidelights on the popup lights are supposed to be up and on dimly but while driving over any uneven surfaces they pop up and down, doesnt hapen when normal headlights are on and the sidelights work as normal during this?

Hi there, I’m afraid I don’t have an answer, but I have a 70s civic and am part of a couple of groups on FB that might be able to help you out. Honda Heritage and Honda Old Timers to name a couple 🙂

The UK legislation that required dim/dip was done away with around 1998, IIRC it was only in force for around 12 years from 1987. There is no MOT requirement for it now. My 1988 MK1 MR2 has it fitted but I bypassed the dim/dip relay many years ago so that the headlights did not rise on the sidelight position (same as earlier MK1's) On the MR2 it worked only with the light switch on the sidelight position by activating the dim/dip relay which raised the headlights and put the dip beams in series. The MR2 has separate sidelights in the bumper so they cover the MOT requirement. Sounds very similar to the Honda, so your fix will be fine
