Still need to pack tonight, but I travel extremely light with old clothes, as the return trip is for bringing stuff.
So I can jettison clothes, shoes etc.
I do every year.
That is a crazy increase in price for the insurance, well done for the kind note at the end for the sales person though. Its hard when you've got a genuine complaint about something with a company but the person on the phone is just doing a job, I'm always like "i'm not annoyed at you, you've been a great help I'm just disgruntled" 🤣.
Hope you have an awesome trip and look forward to following on here! I love going to America but covid and a a new family addition have put it on hold for a few years!

Yeah its a dickmove to lay into people who have no control over the problem your gruntling has been ruffled over, but loads of folks do, and I understand why, and I try not to do it. I used to do IT support for a call centre for a large phone and cable TV company. The awful calls I overheard the agents taking. They are just minimum wage stooges paid (not enough) to take all that flack for some corporate policy or a fowl-up someone else did.
So long as the person on the phone / chat / email is courteous and professional and all then I reckon we all can do the same. The smug gits who don't listen to your complaint can have both barrels though. Its a 2 way street
Anyway, back on topic (although I suspect this thread will wander a very broad topic set) - looking forward to the trip. Taking ideas for my next one... Bon Voyage!

Showing George where I was headed he got lost very quickly.
On the way.
Thanks to John the lodger for the Taxi to Heathrow.
Very clever Hybrid car.
But I still prefer a V8.
Terminal 3 what a mess to get to pick up or drop off.
A spectacular Stealth Tax generator.
£5.00 just to drop off, and if you accidentally drive through it because you could not find the short term parking……… Yup, you guessed it. £5.00 owed, or a letter demanding,£15.00 in 14 days or your fine goes up to £60.00
Slight chaos at American Airlines check in meant that people just barged and those in the rear of the line went first etc.
Unimpressed…… but hey, I made it through security and avoided the Duty Free bargains. (Not Profit Free) prices comparable to grocery, store, special, offers…
Then a coffee and croissant. Prices the same as hospital coffee shops, a pleasant surprise.
And for those who remember bitterly the wonderful past trips, where Kelly and others kept us entertained and company, with their clothes on……..
The Ethyls T-Shirt is as close as we will get to them on this thread.
For those who actually read the words and not just pictures……. Would a dedicated thread on a more tolerant forum be of interest? And for those who complained and agreed with the bollockings I got, as well as others, please do not go take a sneaky peek, at the “outtakes” thread as it makes you a cringeworthy bigot, “a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who does not like other people who have different beliefs or a different way of life:“ seriously.
Other than that, I trust we will have a thread here that will have all sorts of automotive content.
Let me know what other content may be of interest, like Route 66 which is planned, grain silos, massive grain trains up in the top of Kansas and Nebraska
