I saw this in my lorry on the motorway the other week. At least I think it was this car. Not often you see a stickered up corolla.
What are you doing engine wise? A 3SGE with an MR2 LSD gearbox would be good and fairly easy swap.

Always loved these corollas. It would be sweet with a 4age 20v and 6 speed box, 'gze or a 7age. All would fit straight in too. I had a carina 11 with a bigport 4age and it was good fun to drive.

Yeah was probably me to be honest as I was driving it around until last week when I took it off the road for the big build. There is another one near my work but the stickers are different and it’s running a WRC spoiler.
Still thinking about engine options:
.4age - love them but really hard to find .2zzge - hard to swap but cheap and reliable .3sgte - hard swap and expensive .Beams 3sge - hard to find but love them and could turbo later.
I’d look at turboing any NA engine that goes in but but everything would be done in stages.
I’d also look at going 4wd but finding a knackered cheap gt4 is also ninja nowadays.
This week I’ll start the build properly but wanted to gauge interest in doing one as i didn’t know if people would be bothered about it.

I’m not a mega J fan but I like the idea of this so you can consider it bookmarked.

Love these, as someone else said above the 5 door ones were dime a dozen but we never got the 3 door hatch in NZ.
Bookmarked!

Here are a few pics from when I bought the car. I almost walked away as it was right on my budget and looked like it hadn’t been hoovered in forever, not to mention the scabby bits but common sense went out the window and I decided it needed to be saved.

Also gave the car a really good wash as it looked like it’d been stood for a while even though it’d been for an MOT the week before 👀

Next up was a lucky find, an original TTE grille badge. It cost half a million pounds but was well worth it.

Was on the hunt for more parts and got in touch with a Toyota parts legend, such a nice guy who’s helped with a lot of bits since owning the car. For those who aren’t a corolla geek: spare wheel cover, an immaculate g6r factory strut brace, headlight seals and a new old stock g6r gear gator and surround. He also threw in some handy manuals.

First job to tackle was the front discs and pads that were completely shot and somehow not picked up during the recent MOT 🤔

While replacing them I found some decent Goodridge braided hoses have been fitted. I replaced the fluid at the same time and the car felt worlds apart. The brakes arent the greatest anyway so will be getting swapped at a later date.

Next up was a visit to get the wheels balanced as I was getting a judder from the steering wheel. This wasn’t a great visit as I discovered the rear right wheel is badly buckled. It will need to be trued during the refurb. I also had a good look at all four shocks as the ride is literally mental. I found all four must have started leaking since the MOT less than a month ago… there’s a theme starting here.

Anyway, less of my moaning. I started looking out for replacement panels and now have everything I need. Also got a WRC grille made and shipped over.

Managed to find the last body panel the other weekend. I only need the lower section of the rear bumper because mine looks like someone cut the hole for the exhaust using their teeth.

Really am liking this car way too much.
The pic that you took looking from one car at the rear of the other is pretty cool, like a staging lineup.
