Doesn’t make it so, just hear say maybe & then a load of ‘bashing’ starts. Have any of you ever dealt with them? I have, I bought a mk1 Escort camper off them. Great to deal with, he was happy to take a reasonable bid & did everything he said he would. No bashing here, hence the emboldened 'if' at the start of my first paragraph... I wasn’t pointing at anyone in particular. My point is ‘Dave down the pub’ or a post online says xyz. Five posts later, it’s ‘fact’ when it’s just BS & then it all starts. In my opinion KGF for some reason on here, seem to get a bashing from time to time, when what they do is sell (in the main) high quality stuff at what is now realistic prices. I don’t really understand why people take exception to it, I suspect envy in most cases, but who knows

I’m not bashing the business practice. But I would change the word realistic for optimistic prices. My wife and I own two business so know where you are coming from. Rent, rates, wages etc all have to be accounted for, but some of their prices do look pretty steep. If someone is prepared to pay that for it though then fair enough for marking it up it just surprises me the way things are going tbh.

If rumours are to be believed, its a massive mark up. But it's an asking price, probably not a selling price. If they got 'low balled' with a £50k offer it would be something to work with. Is it a £50k car? Probably, looking at what ford values are doing it's possible. Someone will no doubt pay top dollar for it because it's unlikely to happen again any time soon. Personally I'd ignore rumors.

Well princess Dianas one off black series 1 escort rs turbo is up for auction, will be interesting to see if it makes much more than this. Funnily enough it’s NOT a one off , I know a guy in Mansfield (near to me) who has one in black & was ordered like that,NOT a paint job. He owns an insurance company, it was built as what was termed as a ‘press decoy car’ whatever that means There were definitely 2 black RSTs made, it's been said that there were 3 in total. The other(s) were indeed decoy cars for Princess Diana.

I don't know Albert from Adam, but having read the article he clearly loved that car and I doubt he would have sold it for 20K. I'd be surprised if it pulls 70K, but it's value today would be well above 50 I would think, and it's originality certainly makes it collectable.

It's interesting, an 87 Capri is on the fringes of when people did start buying cars as investments not just a mode of transport.
I recall lots of comments at the time of that this was happening with 280 Brooklands models so who knows if this sells near the advertised value then the gates might open to a wave of delivery mileage cars of a similar era. I suspect there will be a few Escort Cosworths unearthed with similar stories in the near future.
Such things always leave me conflicted, yes it's an amazing time capsule of absolute originality.. but it's a museum piece and cars are designed to be driven, enjoyed & experienced, otherwise they are just works of art.

I’d agree with the previous post 100% A very good mate of mine has a couple of mk1 Escorts (one with a cossie lump) & a mk1 XR2, he uses them. However, he bought one of the blue RS Focus that came out (what about 5 yr is it?) anyway he had every option Ford offered, so top spec He told them if it came with ANY delivery mileage at all they were keeping it. It’s in his garage in a bubble & other than driving it down his drive he has never used it & intends never to do so. He’s just banking on it doing what all the RS models have done before it.

I sort of get why you’d do that. But as someone buying it in X years, and with the capri, it seems a bit sad. It’ll just be locked away and they’ll try to keep the miles off of it too to retain the value. Can’t imagine you’d drive it, but if you did….. it’s only the same money as some modern premium cars . So after a year having put 15-20k miles on it, what would it be worth? Would it retain 70% of its value, or 45% after 3 years? And would you be the scourge of the classic car market?

I think all these new RS models being bought and squirreled away as future investments are going to be like the new Star Wars toys in the fact many people are now doing the same thing. Maybe not on the same scale.
Looking through the cars sold by KGF alone they have ready had 3 2018 delivery miles RS Focus through their doors.
Who knows really time will tell I suppose.

I personally think prices are topping out. If the market is going to be flooded by people speculating on future values prices won’t get as high as we are seeing now. With cars switching over to electrification who knows what the future will be with ice driven cars. At the moment the trend seems to be 80’s and 90’s hot hatches and things like cossies, evos and some Imprezas. People that wanted one at the time but couldn’t afford to are now in a position to purchase them, many have been crashed or scrapped so demand is higher than supply. That is now stuff that was around 30 odd years ago. Will we even be allowed to drive petrol powered cars in 30 years time is as much speculation at the minute as what the cars will be worth then.

I know a ford dealer who has a barn full of old fords from sports models to basic models Including at least two never welded lotus cortina, an rs500 with under fifty k on the clock, blue RS focus with about 15 miles on the clock that have been built up by putting it on to a car transporter each year for an annual service and now mot. A couple of newer rs focus with minimal miles of and two ford gt!
The owner doesn’t need to or want to sell but is in to his 70s now so they will get sold at some point , also has spare parts for most of them along with all sorts of other cars and exotics oh and a tractor or two

Let’s be honest, no one knows. If you’d bought an RS2000 in 1978 & not driven it, they would think you were nuts. Would have been a huge investment

Would have been a huge investment Exactly I owned many escort mk1 and 2s and a fair few escort vans ….tbh they were poorly built motors but just look at the prices now! I was regularly paying £200 to £300 for these motors back in the late 80s I wonder if mk6 fiestas will ll make silly money in 30 years As I beleive those are the equivalent cars nowadays

Just wondering what the closest car in design ethos is to a Capri in 2022 and how much it costs from a dealer?

Just wondering what the closest car in design ethos is to a Capri in 2022 and how much it costs from a dealer? since the capri was marketed as the uk’s pony car when it was launched I would suggest the nearest would be a new Ford Mustang. Long bonnet, coupe, rear wheel drive with a Ford badge on. A 2.3 ecoboost would have been the closer and cheaper option but doesn’t look like you can get that engine option here any more, so it’ll have to be the full fat 5 litre v8 at £50k I would also suggest probably the nearest in design ethos would be something like a Toyota gt86. They are about £30k
