As per title, just looking for something to treat the underside of my modern before it gets too bad and came across this stuff on a Google search. www.lanoguard.co.uk/Not heard of it before, seems to be a few good reviews of it online. |

I've not actually used it but it appears not to be a permanent under body wax but more of a blast it over everything each autumn and its it's somewhat sacrificial. It's just lanolin. (Ie. the oils out of a sheeps fleece) so I'm pretty sure its main credentials are eco ones. An alternative to old engine oil and maybe waxoil.

That all makes sense, guessed from the name it was a sheep based product. Think I'll just stick with the Dinitrol stuff, remembered the other day I've got a couple of cans sat in the garage. |

It sounds good, and lots of people say that they've heard that it's great.
I think it just great publicity that has lead to a perception that it's great.
It's only been sold for automotive use since 2020, so the reviews that really matter cannot exist yet. To me the only review I care about is long term performance.
Not saying its not a good product though, it could be great. Just saying that all the positive reviews have limited meaning.

Totally agree. Thier facebook group seems to be full of 'fan boys' who think it should be a wonder product. It's not.

Problem is with that your just sealing in what's there plus moisture, salt, dirt etc

I thought I'd give it a go recently. My mum's new to her RAV-4 seemed the perfect candidate - old enough to require rust protection, new enough to not require (read: I can't be bothered) full undercoating.
I did give it a really good wash and steam clean underneath, and address any obvious issues with proven products before applying the lanoguard as a sacrificial coating over everything. Real easy to use I'll give it that.
Does smell like sheep (funny that) but as the car gets an absolute battering down in deepest darkest Devon it'll fit right in. Will report back in the spring on how it's fairing!

yes thats what I'm thinking of doing, good pressure wash, let it dry out, then give it some.
i don't think there is any that you can just spray over salt etc and it wont hold it in.
if i don't get this, what do people use?

I’m using hammerite good results so far but definitely not the product it used to be. I’ll be using marine gloss next time, I did my brother in laws eves with some in the summer and it’s lethal! Also very cheap. I accidentally painted my side going down the ladder and it took about 2 weeks to get off 🙄
