I need to buy some new tyres for the Cortina - the ones on it are 10 years old and despite having next to no wear and no signs of cracking, I don't want to risk going over the Alps on them!
I think 185 60 13s look best on a Mk1 Cortina - and that's what I've always fitted, but the range is a little limited.
20 years ago I had Goodyear Eagles but they don't seem to be made in my size any more. more recently I've fitted Toyo Proxes and Yokohamas.
Now of course you can compare the wet grip, noise and fuel economy of tyres before you buy, and the more expensive makes seem to be no better (and in some cases worse) than the budget brands I've never heard of. I've always believed in buying decent tyres, but am I wasting money!
