1991 BMW 3 series E30 Touring with M20B25 engine, still has the 318i diff.
Manual gearbox, 204,500 miles
Alpine white
I’ve owned this lovely E30 Touring since the beginning of the year on a limited mileage classic car policy. Always had been reliable and a great car to drive, completed many long and short distance trips, but unfortunately now has a suspected issue with the fuel pump. The MOT just expired and will be declared SORN shortly, I did take the car for an MOT which fared well for a 30+ year old car, only a coupe fail points which have been sorted, including a small fortune spent on sourcing a new fuel tank from Germany (which took a long time to arrive) and then had this fitted by a nearby garage. The car then failed to start shortly after this and therefore lost the chance for a free re-test, however has essentially been prepped for an MOT (receipts retained). I am gutted to have to sell but cannot justify keeping the car anymore or spending more even though it’s likely something simple. I brought the car with intention of keeping a long time and set about making the car my own and ironing out any niggles. It took a long time to find such a nice example E30 touring, a version I’d always wanted, especially with a manual gearbox.
The following has been completed in my ownership earlier this year (generally receipts retained or parts are obviously new upon inspection):
New battery
Back box fitted
Work on the indicators and locking system by a BMW specialist
New boot struts
Windows professionally tinted
Bosch wipers
New fuel tank sourced from Germany and fitted by a garage
Service history:
The service booklet is present with supplying main dealer stamp and an incredible 31 entries. Most of the stamps are from the BMW dealer that supplied the car new. Last service was second half of last year, which included the spark plugs, timing belt and waterpump. There is a sales brochure for the E30 touring from the early 90s (though I may hold onto this a keepsake) and a huge stack of receipts, invoices and previous MOT certificates going back many years.
Bodywork:
The shell is in good order, none of the fail point points or advisories were on corrosion upon the MOT completed this month. Last year repairs were carried out to the drivers floor, NSR arch and battery tray. The A pillars had slight holes at the bottum but have been filled and painted. The boot sometimes fails to shut on the latch but this is the only issue I’ve encountered (not really a bodywork issue but worth mentioning).
Consumables:
A lot of recent consumables: New battery this year, work completed on the brakes, full set of tyres replaced last year which still have excellent tread remaining (I think they’ve covered roughly 2,500 miles; 1,500 with the last owner then I've done maybe 1,000 this year). New exhaust system August 2021.
Inside:
Rubber boot liner present which must be rare to come by, underneath this the carpet is excellent condition and haven't seen the light of day. Original E30 mats in the front, drivers side is worn in places. Drivers seat has some rips on the base but could be repaired or a new base sourced. The rest of the seats are in very good condition and the back seats look to have hardly been sat in.
Equipment:
Upgraded Pioneer head unit and added speakers, which has aux input and Bluetooth. Electric windows in the front (working), sunroof (working), PAS, seemingly full BMW tool kit, rubber boot mat, rear load cover, rear headrests, service reset tool and other spare parts.
This is a seriously special car which I’ll regret selling, the vales of these cars are on the up. That said, I am willing to take an offer. Car is roughly 40 miles south of Inverness - not far off the main roads on the Perth-Inverness section. Was £5500, £4500 takes the car
