My first UK car in 2002 was a handed down Celica.
They seem to have disappeared from the roads.
Saw this ad today and it made me wonder.
As title, 2001, 18 vvt. Sat nav ect. 136000 miles got all the books, three keys, drives lovely,. Mot Jan 2023.serviced last year and new tyres then. Three owners. Rear bumper has paint cracks, not that bad. £1000.00 That's it folks, cars in Stafford.
Thank you

Daughter's boyfriend just bought a 2003 plate one with 10 months MOT for £300. Seems to be in ok condition, just not sure how he thinks he'll insure it at 17.

The 140bhp vvti models seem to often go for very little money, usually end up paying a bit more for the 190bhp vvtli version, although I saw a slightly shabby vvtli go for £1000 the other day
Certainly still quite an unloved model that (in 190bhp flavour) has become a popular source of engines for swaps into MR2s

From what I've seen, a good 190 makes around £2.5k+. 140s tend to make alot less. I'm guessing their shape probably didn't help matters alot. hoopsontoast had a 190 from memory, so may be able to contribute a little more.

Gen-7 140s (VVT-I) are cheap, pretty unloved really. I'd only want to pay maybe up to £2k for one if it was in superb condition/low miles etc. The 190/T-Sport (VVTL-I) is the one to go for, plenty about and maybe £3k for a really good one unless from a dealer. Bear in mind that most T-Sports will likely have had a hard life, given the 'Lift' advantage only comes in 6000rpm and above... There is the 'GT' Runout model, all the same underneath but with bodykit, spoiler, interior etc. These are probably worth a bit more just as they are a 'limited edition'.
Gen-6 are good value right now, Gen-5 have been past that 'so cheap nobody cares' stage so going up in value due to low supply.
I've had an ST182 and a VVTL-I 190, the latter was quicker (on lift) and bit more direct and quite good handling. Actually driving around generally though, I prefered the ST182 (Better ride, 'more' low torque, nicer on the motorway). The VVTL-I has no torque low down, so you will spend your time going through the gears if you want to make progress. The Gen-7 is supprisingly light though, around 1100kg, and 150kg lighter than the Gen-5.

Sold my Celica GT 3 years ago when I came to Oz for just short of 5k. Mind you it only had about 48k miles on it. Shame as I was planning on keeping it for a good length of time.
