Right Team. Search time. I spoke to the lovely husky voiced Katrina (30 Camels smoked a day) today. Super helpful. But could not help. I ordered a brake master cylinder off eBay last week. When we tried to fit, it was the wrong part, the mounting flanges and fitting to go in the booster are too small. What is fitted has a 80mm centre to centre flange and the centre section has a 40mm diameter. Pics below. Girling part, numbers are hopefully visible. Anyone know what this was fitted to or what I should be ordering. It is seized solid, so a rebuild is out the question. Numbers look like: 74860294 90132 Thanks.

Is it an eagle rv? They were cortina mk4 or mk5 based.

Someone building a kit car could well be used to mixing a matching parts from different cars. I certainly did when I was building specials, it's just something you get used to ie. wandering round a breakers yard looking for some part that would fit to help the project along. I wish you well in your endeavour, sorry I can't be more helpful specifically. Perhaps you could do the same and use a matched pair if you know the cylinder bore size. It's often easier to fabricate a mount for the servo to the body than to find a specific part ie. in this case the right hole spacing and register size. Or using a master that is used horizontal instead of angled and change the reservoir. Colin

It's a standard Ford servo(as are the rest of the brakes), but it seems Cortinas used two different ones. Changing it and its brackets is a lot harder than finding someone who can match what's on the car with a part number, and then attaching it with two nuts.
One of the downsides of motor factors using computerised stock systems that use registration numbers, instead of listings by car type and specification in a book, is that finding slightly awkward parts has become much harder. Finding the bore size isn't really possible as it's seized solid. And if we accurately knew what it is off, we would know what to order rather than the educated guesses we have now.

According to my old Delphi brake catalogue all Mk4/5 Cortinas had a 20.6mm cylinder bore. If that helps. Lucas or Bendix variants both the same bore which is to be expected I suppose.
Unfortunately, although there are specs for Mk3 Cortinas, they don't list a master cylinder, so it could be safe to assume the Mk3 is different.
Do you have reference numbers for the new, incorrect one? The Delphi catalogue has a good cross reference section for other manufacturers parts. Checking the buyers guide part shows that, as far as the Mk4/5 Cortina goes, there is no commonality with any other vehicle.
