i am looking to buy a air fed mask filters etc for 2k spraying . i am painting my anglia and honda c50 both will be done in stages . Has anyone on here got a set up that could advise what is needed?
i have a large workshop and plenty of area outside away from other people
i already have a decent size sealey compressor and the general bits
say £1000-£1500 to spend on products would that be enough?
i have looked on other sites online but most threads end up with people arguing over the subject hopefully this thread will not go that way!
Thanks

Got to admit 'sealey compressor' doesn't exactly fill me with confidence you will have a good enough air supply but I guess if it's a big one it should do. Obviously it needs to outside of the contaminated area..
I use a Honeywell mask. Does the job very well. It was new old stock when I bought it so wasnt expensive. Under 100quid. Tearoffs etc are avalible easily etc. Otherwise it's a fairly basic bit of kit so little to worry about.
The mask (well the belt part) has a small carbon filter but I've never needed to change that as I run it through a large blasting style air filter first. These cost a couple of hundred quid but are far better than the tiny filters you see marketed as 'air fed mask filters' the whole supply to your belt goes through it too so it not only filters your breathing air but your painting air too.
The whole thing isnt really rocket science and can be had for well under your budget.

Air fed masks consume a lot of air. If you're planning on running both the mask and the spray gun from the same compressor you may have problems.
I have used the mask above with a brand new hydrovane compressor, and it was unable to keep up with both the mask and the hvlp gun simultaneously. The alarm on the mask kept going off signalling that it wasn't getting enough air. In the end I had to finish the job with a cartridge type mask.

I've built a completely separate breathing system, a old hot tub air pump remote from the garage which feeds a 1" ring main of plastic pipe (made from electrical conduit) around the garage, that has a few points where I can plug the 3/4" line I have fitted to a mask. Works a treat you can't smell the fumes at all, only issue is it's a bit cumbersome but as I don't tend to paint more than a few panels at time it's not really a problem for me.

My Amazon special arrived, everything appears in order, not tried it out properly yet but seems to fit well to my face. There is a couple of minor gripes, the belt is too short, or I am too fat, and it has arrived with pcl connectors and I am set up using uni Closer view of the mask Close view of the filter assembly Ttfn Glenn

3rd stage looks like a lubricator ? You put water in it to add moisture to the air you are breathing If anyone is interested, that is the entire instruction manual Ttfn Glenn

Cheers Same idea as a lubricator with an adjuster on top ? never thought about humidifying the air, but it makes sense after it going through the moisture trap EDIT just noticed you've added the manual, thanks

Sorry but it really doesny make sense. You want the air nice and dry to carry away moisture and stop the mask steaming up.. it's just chinese curse word I'm afraid. They have packaged some standard components together to look like the real thing to a layman when in reality is does curse word all of use!

Looking at the way that mask is configured, exhaled breath will never go near the visor, airflow is into the mask then into nose/mouth section via one way valves and out through the bottom of the mask, or am I seeing it incorrectly ?

Not sure tbh! Again a real air fed mask doesnt have any of that gas mask style gubbins in it. It's just an open mask inside with a loose foam 'seal' round your face. Seems overly elaborate.
