Car has MOT until January 2023, Starts and runs, will drive but konks out out junctions and at idle, but to be honest I've lost interest.
I changed the accelerator pump diaphragm as it was perished and leaking fuel.
has had a new Lucas alternator, dayco belt, original vauxhall spark plugs, Bosch HT leads, Lucas distributor cap and Lucas rotor arm in the last month, fitted by myself. fairly recent all weather tyres fitted too
62000 miles. paint has flaked away in patches mainly the roof.
selling as I have lost interest as it won't start. will need either towing, low loader or trailering away.
It's in Gillingham KENT.
I have the V5 and a few other documents, plus vauxhall filters, spark plugs, a new rear light lense, plus some brake parts.
£650 it's in Gillingham, Kent ME7 postcode

I've got it starting, took it for a quick spin, but it is cutting out at junctions, and at idle.
Have some new vacuum hose on order so will change that, may try and adjust the idle, and clean the fuel pump filter.
To get it going I put all the original plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm, back on but the new ones are there.

So nice to see one of these. To think they were a common site on our road 20+ years ago, and now all but disappeared.
GLWS.

Thanks, I bought it to use as my daily driver, if I can get it running I'll keep it, as you're right you don't see them these days.

Still not running properly, and I need it out of the way, so price dropped to £650.

Hi. Yes, still on the original pierburg 2e3.
I did think about replacing it with a Weber, but the cost (around £400 from webcon) put me off.

Hi. Yes, still on the original pierburg 2e3. I did think about replacing it with a Weber, but the cost (around £400 from webcon) put me off. I did that to a 1.3 estate a few years ago. The difference with the Weber was like night and day, worth every penny. Shame this is an auto, or I'd be tempted. Should be an easy fix for someone.

There is also an enrichment valve on the 2e3 which is a perishable part, on the auto carbs they have a damper to stop the throttle snapping shut too quickly to prevent stalling, the auto choke has a flow and return from the cooling system which is common to block up meaning the auto choke doesnt work properly, they are complicated carbs but if you work through them sensibly you can normally get to the bottom of the problems

I pulled of those pipes and the coolant seemed to be running through ok.
I've adjusted the idle, so it's running and took it out for a spin, drives ok, although it pretty much accelerates to 30mph on it's own!
Most definitely not the solution, but if your local and interested it might get you home!

This sold on eBay for £530, I'm waiting for the guy to arrange to collect it, it won't drive very far so he's looking into having it picked up.
As for spec it's just an Astra 1.6L Auto, manual windows, manual sunroof, velour(ish) brown interior, it does have power steering!
Sold and collected.
