I have just purchased a bike via policy auctions, that does not have the V5C.
For me to get a new V5c I need the VIN but can not find it anywhere on the bike (have stripped it down & checked the manual). DVLA will not give me it as I don't have the V5c. Yamaha won't answer me, so I am stuck going round in circles.
Can anyone tell me how I can get the VIN number so I cn get a new V5c?

Motorbikes have the frame number usually stamped into the headstock area and the engine should have a number stamped onto the crankcase. If the frame number has been removed then you will be in bother unfortunately.

Do you mean Police auctions? If so they are break/ dispose or off road use only usually due to the fact they are usual outstanding stolen or proceeds of crime that can't be positively identified. This should have been clear at the auction?
Only thing you can do legally is buy another frame aand get it reregistered as a rebuilt vehicle using the bits from what you've bought. Expect a Q plate though.
