Well here we go .... A friend of mine about 6 years ago started a project using a solid pc saloon and a very tender hanging pc estate . His idea was that instead of scrapping the estate he would convert a saloon into a van using various parts off of the estate. Part of the way through the build he lost interest as many of us do and sold the van ..... sadly at the time I could not afford to take it on and thought that was that . Untill recently the van turned up on facebook marketplace about 90 miles from me so after about 5 minutes of thought I contacted the gent and a deal was done. To be honest knowing how crestas rot I expected the worse but was very surprised that apart from a coat of red oxide paint it was the same as it was when he had sold it even with all the parts. So my plan is to build a bedford crevanne just like how the chevette had a chevanne . Here is a few pictures..... The saloon The estate Cut up estate Progress

Brilliant.
I clearly remember a ride, in the early hours of the morning (way back in the early 70's) in a Victor, with a factory fitted Cresta engine, and drive train.
At that era, it certainly had some grunt; I suppose by modern day standards it would be considered the norm. Sorry to hijack your thread, it just brought back memories.

Would like a m57 3.0d but so much wiring Yeah, but quite a few threads on here cropping up with them and plenty of aftermarket knowledge. Plus that way it would do mean skids!

No the vehicle was a prototype for Police use, and was out on loan for test purposes at the time. Such vehicles used to appear every so often. I remember the Jaguar V12 before its release on the open mark Saabs and Volvo estates/saloons Volvo 164 if I remember correctly. many others as well. No doubt still goes on today, but I retired back in 1997.
