Hi All
Following the sale of my 328I Cabby last July I tried to be sensible with an e91 325i Touring (sold to make way for a 2004 Caravelle which I still have) then an e90 320D M-sport, however missed having an e36 in the fleet and have seen the prices rising - so the e90 made way and I purchased the below 328i Manual Saloon. First e36 saloon for me but definitely not the first e36 (8th now).
The good, only 4 owners, only 100k (genuine according to mot history), black leathers, climate, 18 button computer, clean arches, pretty clean all round. Just had new stat and housing, waterpump and belts.
The bad, max speeding rods coilovers, unsuitable offset wheels, saggy head lining, driver window not on runners, needs a good tidy.
Work so far in the 3 weeks today of ownership- headlining along with A & C pillars retrimmed in suede look material, alternative wheels and tyres (BMW style 160 e90) 17 x 8 inc decent tyres, adjusted suspension to not be on the hardest setting (previous wheels has a lot of poke), new plates, head unit with DAB and hands-free fitted, a good clean, M Sport steering wheel and new window regulator in the car ready to be fitted at the weekend.
Plan moving forward is a good service, underseal arches etc as using is as a daily, don't want to go mad with it as if i make it too good it will end up in the garage not being used, however may M bumper or was thinking a Super Touring Style splitter and some 90's wheels (just missed some TSW Hockenheims as seller would not respond on arranged collection day).

M steering wheel, new fogs and new drivers window regulator fitted at the weekend- annoyingly the window gets to one inch from the top then auto comes back down- was running out of light after an hour of looking for obstructions (nothing obvious- took all out and re-fitted issue remained!!) so will look at again!. The coil-overs are not my cup of tea so will be on the look for standard shocks and lowered springs- anyone? If not will go for new Bilstein and Eibach like the e30. However just put all new on my transporter so will wait an month or two! Id also be keen on an m-bumper if anyone has one, and style 24's (nice reps maybe as daily so diamond cut will not last). Cheers

Looks clean, the E90 wheels actually look pretty good on it too imo.
I've got a saloon parcel shelf blind gathering dust somewhere if it's any use to you - only the blind, not the actual shelf but your shelf looks the right shape to take it.

Hi mate, I’ve got an msport saloon front and rear bumper complete with all grills n splitter etc than I keep meaning to advertise. I’ve also got a set of 17 inch z3 softline 5 spokes, freshly powder coated then just sat in the workshop, again which I really should advertise!! I was going for a 90’s look on my touring until I sold it to get something diesel to pile miles on. I have an e30 and e46 now tho so don’t cry for me ha!

Thanks mate Yeah e90 wheels fit well, few scabs up close but they were a £180 bargain with decent bridgestone potenza tyres all round. How much for the blind? Il look into how they fix 👍🏻

I do like an e90 to be fair- my 325i touring manual was great but the 320D although a “sport” didnt do it for me. E30 👍🏻 E46 👍🏻 And becoming a retro of their own i think now as so highly rated compared to what followed especially as an m3. Let me know regards the bumpers- how much and where you’re based.

An interesting thread about one of the best all rounders by BMW. Among the my 8 past BMWs was an R plate 328i manual coupe, bought on eBay, unseen when I lived in France. No history, a million previous keepers, it had been inadvertently off roading at some point in its life, yet it never put a foot wrong, managed almost 40 mpg, even though I drove it like a nutter, and it gave my son another 40,000 miles of reliable motoring when I had finished with it. A lot better than an E38 750il or E60 M5 from that point of view. I will watch with interest.

I changed a regulator on a 307cc the other day that wouldn't go up all the way. In the end I found that closing the door then sending it up and down constantly brought it slightly further up each time until it eventually closed. It operated fine after that. I'd never come across this before and it was not something I could find any info on. A totally different car but maybe it was something sensor related that may apply to yours?

Il look into how they fix 👍🏻 I'll have to make sure I can find it first - I did have the complete shelf but was going to retrofit the blind in a 328i Sport coupe I had, so took the blind out and binned the shelf. The blind just fits over the edges of a slot cut in the shelf here: It then hooks up into holders that fit into slots in the roof above the headlining (in a coupe at least) but I didn't have those.

What a difference a set of wheels makes to a car, looks sharp on those E90 rims.

Nice
Did you do the head lining yourself?
Do you have a link for the material or who did it?
Thanks.

Cheers - yeah wheels have grown on me
Headlining - just off ebay.- faux suede from a company called Vandalized. Used on on my e36 cabby too. Kits £49.99 inc glue, plenty to do roof and pillers- just got to remove old lining material and give it a good sand to get all the old foam off so the new sticks well.

Did inner & outer track rods, tracking and new rear tyres (Toyo Proxes Sport) on the rear. Ordered a used front anti roll bar inc brackets as last owner obviously thought it was a good idea to remove it 😬
