thank you, I managed a terrible one to test some of Dez
's ideas, Nowhere near the quality of yours.
This is a kicking the ideas around post, so all input is welcome.
Right, let's pick apart what Dez
came up with.
The front indicator/sidelight units are too big and too clunky.
yes, totally agree, I hadn't got as far as incorporating them into the other light units though.
Cut the centre bar out of the grill and have a full width tube grille.
I'm not totally sold on cutting the bar out, as it's one of the features of the front end I do like, saying that narrowing it. Maybe bringing the grill forward, making it look less clunky and more refined, yes, I would like it to be one of those things you only notice if A; it's parked in a row of standard ones or B; if you come a cross a mark nerd, and you get the lecture.
I think this is the original grill, strangely mounted on the outside, I like the size and shape just not on the outside horrido
your grill treatment looks great but takes away the character of the car.
Entirely get rid of the front number plate plinth and rebuild the valance behind it, have the bumper blade running straight through, and mount the plate below like the earlier ones.
Yes totally agree, not sure how to recreate the bumper blade, but that's a job for another day
This will have a similar effect to the grille mods. Continuous full width lines= lower and wider.
if there's one thing, the car needs is to be made wider.
I’d also get a plate made 10% smaller to help the visuals. Yeah it’s naughty but the chances of getting caught on something like this are slim.
Moving to the rear,
the raised plate mount and light boss do nothing for the back of the car, in fact they detract from the nice little ducktail it has going on. I’d smooth them up ff altogether and have an infill panel of either black or brushed alloy that goes out to that obvious line there, and mount the no. Plate lights at each end. Will look kinda 240z-ish.
Also, triple lights is far too busy for a car that size. Id go down to doubles or even single larger multifunction jobs (mk1 Tina maybe?) mounted on the body only and loose the ones on the tailgate.
Let's take this bit all in one go, Yes, that back end is just not quite right. I have thought so since the journey home, in fact I bought a spare boot lid to this end, the "lights" either side of the numberplate lights are just reflectors so they could be moved and resized easily. I also have a remote boot opener setup from one of the many acclaims that have been broken here, so that could give me an almost flat boot lid with an internal boot opener. Move the number plate to ether inline with the tail lights or below the bumper blade. Or possibly swap the font and rear bumper blades and put the numberplate in the centre, (just thought about it might not work.)
Lights, I like the ones on the car if, there are only 2 on each side. Numberplate illumination lights can be tiny
The side profile doesn’t really need much, there’s not a lot you could do without major, major work. Maybe add a chrome sill trim, again more visual length.
I'm going to kick that one down the road as it's an easy add-on.
Thankyou Dez, your input was valuable.kevins
I quite like the herald door handles. thanks anyway
