ECU's and alternator wiring.

	I know that alternator wiring can cause issues with aftermarket ECU's but I would appreciate some guidance. The wiring on Wifey's Pop is in the planning stage. I intend to make up an engine loom and plug and socket it at the bulkhead. The main charging cable will not go in that loom but it would be useful if the other two could (can't remember what they are sitting here but its a Nippon Denso unit). Would this cause any issues or do I need to make a separate "loom" of two cables? Ta for any advice offered.

	The main thing is to sheild the sensor cables for the ecu, if you do that you shouldn't have any problems bundling the cables in a single loom.

	Thanks for the reply. I know about shielding the crank sensor but I've never seen any reference to shielding any other inputs. I'll see what I can find.

	Oem ECU's have filters to take out noise on the lower frequency signals, but anything which has a higher frequency input (ie crank, cam, knock, CAN) or requires a quick response can't be heavily filtered, some manufacturers shield the lambda sensor as well because it is a low voltage. with an aftermarket ECU the level of shielding required will be dependant on how effective the signal filtering is, for a race biased system where instant response is desired there may even deliberately be less, The safe route in a home built vehicle would be to use shielded cable on the lot.
