for sale is my Peugeot 106 Quiksilver. I bought this in 2019 as a retro daily, I searched for the best example I could and landed on this one from Gloucestershire. As you can see from the pictures, this car is very original, it hasn't been messed around with like so many of the surviving Quiksilver models have been, the only thing I added was the period correct boot spoiler which was an option on this model.
The general condition of the body is good, the paint is still pretty decent for a Peugeot over 20 years old, there's a couple of trolley dints and stone chips but structurally, the car is sound.
The interior of the car is in great condition, there's no rips in the seats, the carpet is in good shape and I think it's the original dealer rubber mats, the original Clarion CD player is still present and correct too, there's some wear to the top of the steering wheel which is common for these. All the switches and dials work as they should.
On the engine side of things, this car has had loads of niggles sorted in it's time with me, the TU engine, as reliable as it is, suffers from oil seeping from the corner of the head leading to eventual failure, which I have had the head gasket re-done along with the valve seals done, reseated and of course a timing belt kit, all of this was done this year. I replaced the coil pack and idle control valve last year and it's had the brakes renewed.
The wheels are the original Raptor ones. The rear axle sits nice and straight, the car runs really well and is very quick for a 1.4, it has key central locking (not remote) and engine immobiliser as well as electric windows and glass pop up sunroof which had the drain channels unblocked last year to make sure no rain water gets into the car - a very common thing to overlook! The boot floor is in very good condition with no signs of any leaking.
These cars are really starting to jump up in money now, I think if this example is kept in good condition, it'll only ever raise. It's cheap to tax versus the GTI model, cheaper to run and will take E10 without a fuss. There maybe other and perhaps cheaper examples out there, but considering they all need a head gasket change eventually, mine is ready to jump in and not worry about again.
My plan was to keep this car but I have a 206 GTI which needs my full attention currently so logically, I would prefer this car to be used and enjoyed by a caring new owner.
2 keys for the car as well as a folder full of history. Recent MOT. Please email me : mic.films@hotmail.com as I don't get notified of replies here so will no doubt miss it if I don't log in.
