Imminently acquiring my first yank motor, and externally its got pretty fantastic, genuine patina. In the short to mid term I'd quite like to keep it in the raw, what are the best options to seal the surface rust and recommendations for bodyshops in the South Yorkshire region if its all over clear coat? Many thanks in advance

Don't clear coat it please. It looks awful, especially in high gloss. Any "patina" is over the second that happens. Just anchor wax the car. Pal bought a VW van that some idiot had clear coated. It wouldn't have been so bad, but they'd wiped a filthy rag over it and sort of half washed it and then painted the dirt onto the van.

Would certainly never use a gloss coat, 60+ years of dulling of the bodywork wiped out by wagging over gloss lacquer..nope, mainly want to preserve what is there.

A decent cost of paint should ensure it lasts more than a couple of British sunsets.

That seems to underline some of the issues with the waxy type coatings that they discolour or put an odd sheen on the bodywork. Will get the vehicle next so might experiment with a couple of small areas and see which I prefer. Plan is to eventually paint it, but as its a road legal running vehicle I fancy using it "as is" whilst I get sorted with other bits.

Buzweld do a coating, if you can't find it on the site call them.
