These always deserved the V6 from the 130. But as they are getting a bit rare how about an Alfa V6. Keeps it in the family, just. Back in the 70s I recall a 2300 Familaire in the Fiat Club and a family friend had a 2300 coupe, that was a lovely car.

I am limited in the amount of power that I can add to the car, in Spain you cannot mount any engine that exceeds more than 30 percent of the original power. The original engine yields 72 hp, so 94 hp is the top, I am trying to convince the guy from the reform laboratory that there is a similar car with a 2300 cc engine and 105 hp with the same brakes, if I get this I could go to an engine of 136 hp that will be enough for me

I’m an Australian living in Spain. Looking for a car comparable to my Holden EH Wagon back in Australia, and the only thing I’ve seen that looks close is the Bifaro Familar that started this thread. Looks like a cousin to the EH.
But as the original poster said, so slow. I swapped the engine over in Aus to a 3.8L V6. From previous posts it seems Spain don’t allow significant power upgrades, that’s disappointing. I can’t live with that 1.5L engine.
But they are gorgeous cars, no doubt.
I wish the original poster mucho suerte, it will be amazing when he’s finished!

Thank you for your support, if you can put more power up to 30 percent higher than the original, but you must do a homologation test over € 400 more and then you can always modify your engine, bigger turbo modify the ecu, nobody will check That, if in the end you decide on this option, I know where to get one equal to mine at a good price, I got mine 10km from home and it is in Madrid 325 km from me, if you want to send me a message and I'll give you more info

I am trying to convince the guy from the reform laboratory that there is a similar car with a 2300 cc engine and 105 hp with the same brakes, if I get this I could go to an engine of 136 hp that will be enough for me Well, be careful with what you actually tell the guy at the lab. I understand your reasoning based on weight/brakes, but the Seat 1500 is not just a Fiat 2300 clone with a smaller engine and some detail differences. The Fiat had front torsion-bar suspension (to make room for the six-cylinder), whereas the Seat 1500 inherited the coil spring suspension from the 1400. I suppose that design-wise the 1500 front arrangement would be up to the task, in terms of weight (I imagine the diesel engines that were also fitted to the 1500 would be very heavy indeed). But you don't want the lab to start looking into too much detail at the Fiat 2300, just in case; better just to mention to them they were "similar" cars and keep the discussion focused on weight and brake setup. I did not quite get what you say on your latest posting: is it possible to fit an engine with more than 30 percent higher max power... but it just costs more? Or 30% more is the absolute limit? Also bear in mind that 72 bhp seems like a lot for the old 1500. Maybe those are SAE values, not DIN? And what about fitting a Fiat/Seat twincam engine... perhaps a 1.6? Surely it would be easier, but even that one may be just on the limit, power-wise. Best of luck with your project. Keep us posted!

I finally return to the project, after much searching for information and evaluating other types of swap, such as Isuzu 1.7 TD with omega gearbox, xud11 engine with Tata Safari box, 1.9 jtd engine with Fiat rwd box etc. the winning option is box with tata safari gearboxes and xantia 1.9 TD engine, I have found a complete donor car, that will be the way, the adventure begins

You found a solution already otherwise a Fiat 1.9TD and a 124/Lada gearbox would be a very simple solution.
