The event had to be held in a car park near the railway station after the council decided not to allow it in the market place. Nevertheless it attracted a good selection of French cars, old and newer. Also not just local Derbyshire cars appeared.. Peugeots from Essex, Alpine Renault from Hampshire and Talbot Horizon from Preston. Close to mine, I took 4 of my SIMCA collection .. The Rallye 2 racecar towed by my SIMCA/Talbot pickup, '67 1200S Bertone coupe and modified 1100 hatchback. Other SIMCAs ranged from a '55 Aronde to an '80s Horizon. Also MATRAs were out in force from the SIMCA/Talbot based 3 seater sportscars and Rancho SUV to three of their final product, the Renault Avantime. Also the Alpine Renault club put on an impressive display with models from an A110 to the current model. Add to that a selection of other Renaults and Citroens plus a local car club's diverse display with cars from an E type Jag to a 2002 BMW Turbo. All in all a great show Thanks to Adrian Ashton, organiser in 'normal' years of the town's highly successful 'Motorfest' for his organising. Photos below...

Thanks for the pictures. That Aronde is great, looks like it's lived a life!
Love the Renault 4CV too - looks a bit special and didn't remember seeing one in RHD before.

misterm The '55 Aronde belongs to Dick Husband, President and a founder member of our SIMCA Club UK. Every two years (in normal times) since the early '90s one of the european SIMCA,MATRA, Talbot clubs run an International meeting. Dich has travelled to all of them in this car..!!!  Not french but another spectacular car at the show...  and what is believed to be the earliest Known surviving Avenger from '69  and me with Clive Nelson whose Talbot-MATRA Rancho won a trophy.  |

It was basically a 'French Car Day' but local classic car club members were invited too. The BMW, Mgs, E type etc were from the Amber Valley Club. The StreetKa belonged to one of Andy Owler's family... He organised the Alpine Renault Club's display. A few more photos...    |

I love the Matra Rancho! To see one at all, let alone in this condition, is a rare sight! I've seen significantly more Veyrons than I have these!
The Renault 4CV is one of my dream cars too. This one is perfection (though the wheel's on the wrong side for my taste).
